 | At what speed is a DOCSIS 3.0 modem necessary? I'm not sure what the service tier that I have is called, but I get about 20-21 Mbps steady (not burst) download speeds. My modem is a Motorola SB5120.
Is there any advantage to having a DOCSIS 3.0 modem at this speed tier? |

 | If you have issues with congestion or speeds slowing down during peak hours, a DOCSIS 3 modem (assuming your area has channel bonding) can help alleviate that. |

I agree with nysports4evr and gar187er that a D3 modem will give other advantages on lower speed tiers. |
