Re: FTTN Profiles - CRTC complaint I know about it. When I was put on 16397/797 the guys in the direct forum said this:
Hello
I have looked into your account and see that your upload speed has been profiled to 800kbps with room for improvement, as well there has been an Optimize button configured to your account.
Now I could click this Optimize button which should raise your line profile to it's highest stable speeds, but I do not know exactly what the result will be as this button is new and we are not sure of any bugs just yet, but I have used it on a few other accounts which were raised to full sync with out issue.
What we could do here is click the button with your authorization, and if it doesn't bring your upload to full 1mbps, and leave your download at 16mbps we can submit a repair ticket to have it fixed manually by Bell.
Regard
The optimize button only optimized my download to 19455 but left the upload at 797. I was then told they could put in a ticket but Bell could lower the download speed.

1 edit | Right. That's pretty much what they said in my thread as well.
Seems like wholesalers have a way to give their customers advertised speeds then.
Any manual tweaks from Bell that don't offer/result in advertised speeds seem more Bell incompetence than conspiracy. It also appears to be very possible - as mentioned by others - that full advertised speeds are available to indies' customers and some (I hesitate to use the word many) seem to be getting them. The best way to get advertised speeds seems to be a) asking for them using the right terminology (including "please") and b) getting someone that knows what they're doing.
Errrh.... pass the mustard?

I.e. depending on the dslam it may be configured differently and all users on specific dslam have specific profile? In other words it may not be specific to independents...? Want to make sure we don't jump the gun. I'm sure your aware of the IKNS bug that limits uploads to ~800 and also makes the SNR read 6.That caused some of your staff (Martin) a headache to go and verify they were on remotes during the 5mb to 6 mb transition
So even if the new tool changes the download on IKNS remotes the upload wont change as it thinks the SNR is still 6 |

But Marc, would you at least let us know what is the COLOUR of that 'Optimize' button ? |

Mike They used the optimize button on me as well. I ended up with the same thing as mike 19455/797. I'm not on a remote.
A little hesitant to ask to fix the upstream since my downstream RCO is at 90%(stable) and they might axe it down. |
