| Change we can believe in? Yes Bush enacted it after 09/11, yes the Congress approved it (including Obama who voted for it) but if you ran on a platform of change wouldn't this be a great one to overturn.. instead your administration wants to squash legal challenges to it. Guess Obama isn't so different then Bush after all. |

He is in charge, this is his DOJ and his administration. Obama first voted for the codification of it and now is trying to squash it. I guess this is another case of Obama supporters who only want credit for good things while burying any sort of change that was promised in the election. For someone who ran on Bush sucked he sure as hell is continuing many of his programs. |

| Yeah John McClane isn't making any sense whatsoever, DOJ is part of Obama's cabinet, how can he not have control over these things? Indeed he is a Bush clone, and I tried to warn people when Obama changed his stance on this very topic of warrantless wiretapping when the reality of him possibly becoming President sunk in and he could use that power for himself. When he was just any other Senator, he adamantly opposed this, until it was convenient to defend it, which he and his administration certainly are making quite the effort at.
The implications though are bigger than that. I mean, all this time has passed and the Bush administration's original abuse of power on this warrantless wiretapping subject has not been taken to task, and it's already nearly a decade has passed since this issue came up with little to no progress. What does that spell for ever holding an elected official accountable?
