reply to DanteX Not sure whether QoS is on the Actiontec or external, but I believe it identifies the PVR by MAC address. I've tried putting a network switch and even a powerline Ethernet adapter between the Actiontec and CIS430, and QoS seems to be maintained as the MAC gets transmitted. But if I put a router of my own in between, QoS is lost.

Just to clarify things before i go out and get my own router , using my own router shouldnt mess up my capability to watch and record optik tv am i right?

Provided you have the ability to turn on IGMP proxy on your new router, I think you should be fine.
