Re: WoW Loses 100k Subscribers, Subscriber Decline Slows

It all depends on what kind of "greatness" we're talking about.

Also, I was referring to model Ts, not the gangster classic cars.

This is not productive. You're arguing, not discussing. Trying to win, not come to an agreement.

(I edited after Immer's "approval" it may no longer be an accurate approval)

So you're saying everything is subjective to everyone? Gangster cars are classics just as a model T is a classic. Any hardcore classic car person will tell you that yet you just broke up 'classic' into 'old classic' and 'new classic'. Way too many variables to get into this type of discussion and have it turn out productive. We'd need everyone to define in non-specific terms what 'greatness' is to them for starters. If everyone isn't on the same page it's a losing battle from the start.

unfortunately, I think you are the only one being dodgy with your definition of "great". Your arguments here have read more like "list reasons why you think I should have found SWTOR to be great". My lamb analogy was directed at this. If you don't like the menu, look elsewhere to judge the greatness of the 5-star restaurant... but don't spit in everyone else's food.

What's dodgy and argumentative about that? If anything is "great" you should be able to articulate why.

It's not that they haven't articulated, it's that you reject their arguments. What is dodgy, is your unspoken criterion... you won't accept that a game could be great even if you personally don't like it. It doesn't have to be great to everyone, for it to be great. That would be the definition for "the best" or "the greatest".

I don't like it as an MMO. But I think its a great RPG.

Exactly. Finally, someone else gets it.

It's a great RPG. Horrible MMO.

Not paying recurring fees for a horrible MMO.

tsk, tsk...

"I don't like it" != "a horrible"

(clearly stated opinion) versus (opinion presented as objective fact)

oh, and I said this on page 1.

Obviously I'm extrapolating your opinion as fact.

It's far too easy to get these fanboys riled up over me calling their game shitty.

No... You're missing a key point.

A Model T can't go the requisite speeds required to be street legal. This makes the car functionally obsolete.

A 1930s, 40s, 50s car is easily able to be street legal. They are not functionally obsolete.

That's grasping at straws using a 50' grabber thingy sideways blindfolded.
