Re: [Classes] Body And Soul: The Priest Thread (4.2.X - 4.X.X) So I was asked to go Disc for Zon'ozz and Spine the other day in a 10m pug. I was in full Shadow gear with the Spirit battlemaster's trinket(still only had ~1700 spirit). I was only able to do 11k hps on Zon'ozz, and 10k hps on Spine...please tell me it gets much much better when appropriately geared/gemmed/enchanted.
I haven't healed in a raid since 15% ICC buff, I know the concept and mechanics of Disc, I just want to make sure that I don't suck hard since my numbers were so low...I was literally outhealed by 2x by the other two healers...granted one was a Resto Shaman and the other was another Disc who was far better geared and obviously more skilled at healing than me.
Any pointers about spec quirks, gear selection, t12 bonuses, etc will be more than welcome. I guess this is considered asking for hand holding...thank god this isn't EJ, I just don't have the time to read through this entire thread.
The reason for my concern is my new guild expects me to heal H Morchok this Friday night. I'm going to LFR this week and run HoT Heroics for spirit pieces, they don't expect much from me since I was recruited as RDPS in the first place. I just couldn't play if I wasn't carrying my own weight... -- Mcbrain, Goblin Shadow Priest, [Lock Down], Kil'Jaeden |

| reply to McBrain Practice in LFR but ignore spine and zon'ozz numbers because the downtime is pretty high. Yorsajh/Blackthorn still have plenty of dmg in LFR to test your HPS (unless you cheese it).
For quick reads I recommend »www.talesofapriest.com for disc advise. The only thing you are lacking by having all of your shadow gear is spirit... but disc still benefits a lot from INT and Haste. Mastery, not as much SP does... but it's not "wasted". The biggest adjustment from your ICC days... only cast bubbles on people you know are going to take enough dmg after the cast to pop the bubble (main mana regen mechanic outside of fiend/hymn).
The first big decision is if they want you to go atonement/smite healing or just straight disc healing (strength of soul). I was bubbling the shit out of most everyone...and my mana pool was feeling the effects (obviously). Plus I think the other (read better) Disc was beating me to PW:S, effecting my performance even further.
I wasn't too sure when to use PW:B on Spine...I was using Supression on a person who was gripped and PI on the Arc Mage when tendons were up...PW:B and Supression on stack part of Zon'ozz and PI on the Aff Lock on CD for that fight. Wrong usage of CDs?
Another big issue I had was remembering to use Fiend since it's macroed in my Shadow spec...maybe moving it around on my bars or making the icon larger will help me with that.
PoM, Pennance, Renew, PW:S (when appropriate), and Flash Heal/Greater Heal are about all I'll need. Is this an incorrect assumption?
I didn't have time to read up on things, but I know I was getting free Flash Heals, that I want to say were instant...but from what?
Sorry for the noobness, but in my new department, web usage is monitored pretty closely...gotta kinda depend on you guys' answers for now. -- Mcbrain, Goblin Shadow Priest, [Lock Down], Kil'Jaeden |

| Double disc is kind of, meh. Unless one is focusing strictly on a tank, I would only have 1 disc in the raid (imo)
Use PWB right as the amalg is about to blow up. Probably want PS on the tank right before the amalg blows up as well.
Surge of light = free flash heals more than likely. -- Here's the final bullet, to put our love to death. |

Even stated that 5k hps would be sufficient. I guess I doubled their expectations, lol. -- Mcbrain, Goblin Shadow Priest, [Lock Down], Kil'Jaeden |

| If no one is in trouble, bubble the tank so that when it breaks you get your rapture (mana regen). If rapture is up, then the next time you will want to bubble is for the spell hasted (borrowed time) Prayer of Healing or Greater heal. Beyond this, bubbles are expensive... so do so sparingly. I have power auras tracking borrowed time and rapture to help me with bubble management.
double disc is viable and comes with the advantage of 2 barriers, 2 pain supressions, and lots of bubbles. I would say that if you are rockin' double disc, one of you should be running "strength of soul" spec to reduce the duration of weakened soul debuff on bubbled targets. -- Immergruen (resto/kitty) on Nathrezim Server (US) Guild leader for Pride and Ego "You never truly know someone... until you fight them"

Arsinic join:2011-02-17 Ruffs Dale, PA | PW:S spam in a 10 man isn;t the way to go. If your missing some spirit I'm sure you will feel the effects, but honstly spirit really isnt that amazing for disc. I can't give you my spirit numbe ron my priest, but I can tell you I probably have 1 or 2 more then half pcs of gear with spirit on them the rest is missing it. You need to ue any kind of rapture tracking. Make sure a PW:s is popping every 12 secs.
Another thing is for low spirit numbers, atonement will be even better for you. Each stack of evanglism decreases the mana cost of smtei, penance, heal and something else i think, so if you HF+Smite alot with a PW:S and PoH miced in youll be riding fine on mana.
Personally If I know I'm going to run into mana issues(yes it happens 2 healing ocasionally) I keep all of my PI's for myself. Especially fights like Zonozz where you will be PoH spamming for black phases.
If you want any more infos PM me or I can add you to realid or something...
Also on a side note this past wekend I played holy for half of our alt run for the first time since my priest was my main 2 weeks into Cata. It was pretty fun, the AOE burst healing seems ridiculous to what it was at the start of cata. I'll probably jsut rock the double healing specs for a while.. NEver going to actually use that stupid orange staff anyway lols |

| I always save PI for myself. A non-atonement build uses Heal as its filler... so I don't see a huge argument for atonement being more mana efficient. Either way, I find disc easier to manage mana than holy... but that is probably more of a playstyle thing. |
