If you're loosing both, I would think it'd have to be the ONT. We kept having an issue with the internet going out and not coming back until I forcefully power-cycled the ONT. Verizon swore for months the ONT was fine. I finally MADE them replace it anyway, it's been fine since.

Thanks, it's either that or something at the CO like a PON card. It's intermittent and short enough that my neighbors may not be really seeing it (those on FiOS). I'll monitor for a bit longer and see about getting the ONT changed.

Strange - I just had a week with absolutely zero drops, and after a lot of rain now I'm getting a ton of them in the space of an hour.

Time to log another request to get the ONT changed.

It may not be the ONT. It could be a fiber connection such as in the Fiber Distribution Hub. The FDH connections are "supposed" to be water tight, but that is not always the case.

Thanks, this seems logical as well. The network group is looking into this now. What's strange is the sequence - it's ALWAYS a drop of 1-2 seconds followed by 15 seconds of uptime, followed by another drop of 1-2 seconds followed by 20 seconds of uptime.

After a week with zero downtime it's strange to now have it happening 20 times in a couple of hours.

And if this doesn't get resolved shortly I will definitely insist on getting my phone back on copper, as well as lodge a complaint with the NY PSC.

Tech came yesterday (best I've dealt with yet) and did some diagnosis and then replaced the ONT. He was surprised given the age of the existing 611 unit that the last tech didn't replace it when he was here.

Too early to tell if this fixes the problem but so far so good. It was nice to be dealing with a professional who takes pride in his work too!
