@teksavvy.com

is TekSavvy/Bell blocking incomming VNC, SSH, etc?

I have TekSavvy DSL. I've been trying to set up VNC and SSH port-forwarding so I can access my home PC remotely, which I've done more than once in the past (just not with TekSavvy and this router), but no matter what I try now I can't get any incoming connections through to my network. I have all the ports forwarded, and my router is logged into the modem with PPPOE (so no double NAT). I'm really at a loss. The only thing I can figure is 1. either my router is somehow faulty (unlikely) or TekSavvy is somehow blocking this sort of incoming traffic for security reasons?

Everything works fine within the home network.

(not spam, check my joindate, i've got DSLr swagger)

Have you tried disabling mlppp if you use it?

when I had an older version of tomato/mlppp, some mtu problems caused me to be unable to connect to my router reliably from the outside.

havent had that problem in a long time with 1.27 latest beta

even 1.27 has several bugs, specially when used w/ MLPPP on. I replaced mine with an OpenRD running Ubuntu and configured mlppp&routing on it and it's much more stable.

Since I got my new cable modem (DCM475) I have had this issue as well. I have ports open for various services but none of them are available anymore over the net. My router has not changed nor has the configuration. I cannot explain it but everything worked fine with my old SB6120. I even checked the modem's configuration page and there was nothing there settings wish to indicate that it was interfering.

Ports report as reachable. Wan ping is on. But still can't get through to the network

I'm using a SB6120 and a Linksys E3000 running Tomato 1.28. I have numerous ports forwarded in the Linksys. It all works well, including VNC, SSH and Slingbox.

Do a remote port scan on your computer.

use tightvnc and put ssh on port 9999. Then create an ssh tunnel after logging into your router with ssh using putty to forward ports 5800 and 5900 to your local machine. then connect to localhost:5900 to access your home network.
