Re: New Verizon rewards for loyal customers. I called today and the CSR told me that she could add a $6.00 credit for 1 of the boxes for 1 year. So the total cost, before taxes, the boxes, and the MR DVR, would go down to $139.00 for the first year. Is there a specific number I can call for retentions to see if I could get a better deal? Thanks again.
Btw, my bill is around $200.00 or more, every month, since I have 6 regular 7100.1 boxes and 1 7232.2 in MR DVR mode, plus all of the PPV movies that we order. I would like to save as much as I can. |

Replace the boxes with TiVos. I've been on FiOS for over 4 years now. If I had been using the FiOS DVRs all that time instead of my TiVos I would have paid much, much more. Plus the TiVos have more features, and the ability to transfer any of my recrdings from FiOS to a PC for storage on a hard drive or to burn to a Blu-ray Disc.
In 2007 I was using several Series 3 and TiVo HD boxes on FiOs. Then in 2010 I got several TiVo Premieres and sold the S3/TiVoHD boxes which covered over 80% of the cost. And recently I got a four tuner Elite and sold two of my Premieres for more than the Elite cost me. All these boxes(except one which is $6.95 a month)have lifetime service. and my cost has been much, much less than it would have cost me to rent the FiOS DVRs each month. |

 | reply to TazExprez Do you really need to have boxes on all 7 tvs?
I share 1 box between a television and a projector. The only downside is both devices cannot watch separate programming, but I'm never using both of them at the same time. I handle the channel changing using an IR transmitter.
Since all the outputs on the boxes are live simultneously, I use HDMI to the main television and a 50ft component cable to the projector. Then I use a 50 ft digital audio coax (RG-6 not RG-59) to an audio receiver in the projector room for my surround sound.
So if you can share some of the Tvs with 1 box you could save a few dollars that way. The biggest expense would be for either an IR or RF transmitter for the remote control. Plus your labor in running the cables. |

True, except the poster indicated he also had PPV which TiVO doesn't support from Verizon FiOS (requires MoCA and Verizon IMG). Not saying there aren't other sources for on-demand movies (but not sports events). Keeping 1 7100 also solves that issue. -- REMEMBER: Stupidity should be painful !! |
