Any moderate to heavy users not being throttled?

...and if so, where do you live?

I've only been with Clear about two days now. My area is one of more recent in their coverage map. So far, I'm getting promised speeds and above, never below. Usually it's above the 6Mbps at the top end of their promised speeds, coming in at about 8-12. It has never, ever dropped down to 3.

I'm not an extreme user, but I can average about half a gig a day data usage, some days it's way less, some days it might be two. Naturally I'm a little concerned about the throttling issue, so I was wondering, is there anyone out there that hasn't been throttled and if so? What area are you from?

The first day I had Clear I ran several speed tests, in that late afternoon I was getting only 2.5 to 3 down. The next morning I was getting 10 to 12. Now months later, yesterday I got 16 down but most days I get 3 to 5 down in the PM.
It all depends on tower loading, with more users downloading you get lower speeds. So I think your speeds will depending on what tower you connect to. If you live in a place that has a lot of heavy users expect slower speeds. If you are a heavy user you could get managed.

I guess light to moderate is what I am (10G-16G per/month).
Never been throttled, and speeds are always over 6Mbps (usually over 10).

I'd say that if you're going to watch TV over the internet, you might just get the throttle monster. Heavy downloads, same thing.

If you do as you say, you SHOULD be OK.

With Clearwire a little less than 2 years. Clear 4G goes down due to outages sometimes, but otherwise clocks about 10Mbps consistently. SamKnows equipment reports very consistent 10-11Mbps throughout the last year.

I use between 90 and 110 GB each month. Not sure where it falls within your "heaviness" scale.

5 months in and I use 30-50GB a month with no problems.

Not sure? Is it any wonder why broadband prices are increasing and throttles/caps are being put in place?

Okay, I'm sitting at right around 10G after just about two weeks. Showing no signs of throttling at all.

It depends on one's background and perspective. I do not use this connection on the go; this is my "fixed wireless" service, a replacement for cable options I am lacking at my location.

90-110 GB per month is significant for a person coming from mobile broadband. But definitely not something to write home about for one coming from cable/DSL. I am from the latter camp myself, but I understand my perception of traffic usage is quite different from those in mobile camp; hence the "not sure" part.

Personally, I consider myself a moderate user.

To put it in context:

The average broadband connection generates 14.9 GB of Internet traffic per month

You're not a moderate user. (that doesn't make you evil or anything, but companies build their products to target the "average" consumer)

Interesting information, thanks for the link! Makes Verizon Wireless with their 10GB cap look decidedly less evil and Clearwire - outright generous.

If all goes well, cable comes to our community this fall, so maybe my neighbors will get a break once I am off the airwaves
