Re: [OK] SB6120 Received 1.0.5.1 Firmware Update Lastnight You can't take a modem out with a firmware update cable modems have two firmware banks if one fails it moves to the next one and loads that and they should be testing the firmwares before the push it out so it shouldn't be a problem |

There is only so much testing cox can do on there own. It seems to me cox is just being extra safe about it, But who can blame them with the amount of firmware releases that have been made for the 6120's. |

 | I am in OKC and at 1.0.5.1 on my SB6120 and my modem has been up/down/up/down/up/down all day. I have lost my bonded channels also. Spent a half hour on the phone with Cox, apparently my mom started dropping communication with Cox around 3am last night. I've been up for about the last 20 minutes and that is the most stable it has been all day. And it's been super slow without the bonded channels. Cox said they would dispatch a tech on Sunday, with I am nearly certain that it's too much a coincidence that the firmware upgrade is the root of my current issue. |

I am sure you have had the newer firmware for more then one day, and its very likely your connection issue isn't related to the new firmware. |

| reply to dojokev Also if it started around 3am this morning, its possible cox made a change in your area, and its causing issues. Because between 12am and 6am is the time ISP do changes to there network. Also around 2am is when firmware updates happen. So do you know how long your modems been running the 1.0.5.1 firmware? |
|
 | reply to lilstone87 Yeah the 1.0.5.1 firmware is really stable |

gkeawe join:2011-03-08 Norman, OK | Well its May 1st , so far still no issues with the 1.0.5.1 firmware, with the exception of two brief interruptions of power, the SB6120 uptime is stable, at present no interruption of signal whatsoever. |
|
 | Did you have any issues (unexplained t3/t4 timeouts) prior to the upgrade on 1.0.3.1 firmware? |
|
 | I just got a new SB6120 straight from Motorola and it had firmware 1.0.3.3 and has been working great on Cox.net |
|
nonymousPremium join:2003-09-08 Glendale, AZ | I had that fimware also. Cox downgraded automatically after a little while. Kept it about a week or two then the firmware updated or in this case down dated to the Cox firmware. |
|
1 edit | Did you notice any changes in speed or anything else? They downgraded my firmware last night to 1.0.3.1 |
|
 | Out of curiosity, has the 1.0.5.1 firmware been seen in Cox systems outside of Oklahoma yet? |

Unless cox has ran into some issue's with the firmware, it should start rolling out to more markets. Because its been over a month since cox started to push it out in the OK market. It seems there isn't any issue's with the firmware, since there hasn't been anyone coming on here complaining of trouble with this new firmware. |

 | According to this (»www.twitlonger.com/show/9re44n), Charter is investigating versions 1.0.5.2 and 1.0.6.0; no idea if Cox is looking at these versions. |

| No reason to if no one has any issue's with the 1.0.5.1 firmware. It would take atleast 2-3 months from now if cox started testing another firmware. I remember one of the techs on here mention cox started testing 1.0.5.1 atleast 3-4 months back, and its just now limited to OK market for testing before pushing in the rest of cox's markets. |
|
 | I doubt that 1.0.5.1 will be the last version ever sent out for this modem, so it is very likely that Cox will be investigating later firmware versions (perhaps the ones I mentioned, perhaps something later), regardless of whether the 1.0.5.1 version has issues or not. |

Never said they wouldn't release a newer one down the road. Just don't expect them to rush to look into these two newer firmwares right now, unless a major issue is found with the 1.0.5.1 firmware. |
|
 | Allowing for a 3-4 month testing time, if they started examining a newer firmware version this month, that would put the deployment at around September- October. This would work out to 2 versions per year- sounds like a reasonable schedule to me. |

That cox is taking longer to test them to make sure of no major issue's before releasing them to there customers. The thing is though with a jump from 1.0.3.1 to 1.0.5.1, there is probably a lot of fixes between the two versions, another reason for the long testing period of this firmware. |
