Re: Truck & SUV sales boost new car sales - Stats Can said by vue666:Ford has cornered the market for trucks Not really cornered it. They have the best selling single brand (the F-Series), but were outsold by GM-manufactured trucks (Silverado and Sierra) in North America for 2009 - though only barely. |

1 edit | bt: they also own the small truck market.
There is the Ford Ranger, and the slightly larger (full back bench + 4 doors) Toyota Tacoma.
Anyone looking for a "Big Three" will find only the Ranger in this class.
BTW: I love my ranger |

that is a "small truck" (although larger than the Ranger, it is still smaller the F series, etc). |

The Dakota is a mid size truck... i thought there was "regular" (F150+, Ram 1500/+, C/K1500+) and the smaller ones (Ranger, Dakota, Tacoma, etc).
if there are three sizes, is anything else a "mid-size"?
personally, i think a Ranger with a 2.0L Clean Diesel and AWD would be a good seller...it would remind me of that Toyota Hiltus from Top Gear. -- Only when the last tree is cut, only when the last river is polluted, only when the last fish is caught, will they realise that you can't eat money - Native American proverb |

Hummer on the Rocks.... Hummer on the Rocks |
Now here's a truck...
Took the photo at a car show this summer. Removed the Hummer from it's bland background and merged into a photo of Peggy's Cove Lighthouse I took.... |

Overall, Toyota is the dominant one, outselling the #2 manufacturer by ~2:1 in both 2009 and 2008. Out of the big 3, Ford was the top choice in 2009, but GM was the top choice in 2008. |

of course, if the truck was needed for work, then i would pass (i wouldn't want to get this truck dirty or scratched up). -- Only when the last tree is cut, only when the last river is polluted, only when the last fish is caught, will they realise that you can't eat money - Native American proverb |
