joemcool join:2009-03-29 Lexington Park, MD | Anyone having internet issues in southern MD? Hey- at about 0130 this morning, I started getting intermittent internet service from MC. Ping times have significantly elevated, and I'm seeing up to 50% loss at times. While some hosts are unreachable, others are just slow. For unreachable hosts, traceroute dies after leaving MC (sometimes at internap, MC's tier 2 down here, sometimes one hop later). Anywho, the MC tech seems to think its a modem issue, despite the fact that the modem shows a good connection (SNR:32.8, about normal for MC, and power levels around -15/50 dBmV down/up).
Is anyone else having issues, or is it just me? |

 | No problems here in Cedar Cover--maybe it's just your immediate area:

joemcool join:2009-03-29 Lexington Park, MD | thanks for the info jsz. My monitoring system saw intermittent packet loss from 0130 until about 1000 local time. Everything seems back now. I'll post again if I have any other issues.
Any way I could get a heads up when these things are coming? Is there a mailing list or something? |

 | reply to joemcool -15/50 dBmV down/up
Those are bad signal levels. We keep the upstream less than 48 dbmv and the downstream power should be as close to 0 as possible (fluctuating range can go from -5 to +5)
Thats the issue |
