...This image is really neat full size - it shows a lot of detail.
Looks great! Where can I find that photo, and hopefully others like it? Love those scenes of old New York. What resolution is your desktop?
I actually got the image from Shorpy: »www.shorpy.com/

The laptop is 1280x800.

Here it is without Windows Sidebar blocking it (and a few other images from the site that I liked):

11th Ave NYC

Erie Canal 1904 Syracuse

The Bowery 1900

NYC 1913

I look at those kids in the last image and they seem too young to be out and about in the town on their own. And their clothing gives a good idea of what the children of the non-wealthy wore at the time.

If you look at the full-size image of the first picture, and zoom in on it, you can see chalk drawings on the sidewalk by the running boy in the lower right, and the coal in the bin in front of the train in the middle of the image. And in the back right of the image, you can see another train going across the cross-street.

I want to retire to the Isle of Sodor and ride the trains.

And not a car in sight!

Thanks for the Shorpy link and the great images that you posted. It's nice that each photo on the site has a link to a hi-def version.
