anyone work for the post office?

is it common for workers to just say someone is not home but not leave a slip?

i've been home all day since 9:30 this money waiting for a package.. I did call the local post office because I still did not get the package after my mail came, she said something like they were running late and so on.

Anyways I check again and it says they tried at 6:21 pm and they left a notice on the door (did not) and to pick up tomorrow.

Do they have to be back at a certain time?

I had this happen before.
Basically the mail carrier is too lazy to get out of their truck, so they deliver your mail to the mailbox at the street and not the package to your door.

You should call them. The manager can talk to the mail carrier about it and find out what is going on.

That crap happens here all the time. I'll be home and he already has the slip pre filled and leaves it in my mailbox. One day he was putting mail in my box right in front of me and quickly slipped the slip with my mail. I went up to him and he said the package was at the post office.

it's not like it's large or anything lol the lady on the phone said do you know how big it is? and I was like no not really I ordered it from an auto part site but I do know the part it's self will fit in the palm of my hand.. I just don't know how much packaging and size of box if they used it how large it is.

We usually see a separate mail truck deliver larger packages; they have been spotted here BEFORE 7:00 AM, no joke. Other times it's closer to 4:30 or 5:00 PM, still separate vehicle from the one that stuffs our cluster boxes with junk letters.

The postal carriers in my area are soooo damn lazy it is incredible. I was expecting a box and I saw the truck at my box and all he did was leave a slip saying they attempted delivery and that i had to go to the post office to pick up the box. The lazy good for nothing idiot never even got out os his vehicle.

I called the post office to complain and they have the rudest ppl in the world working there. The guy said that is was just too bad and I could pick the package up the next day at the post office.

The have outlived their usefulness and I think it is time for the government to dismantle them by opening it competitors.

So i went to the post office this morning and the guy found it.. and he was like maybe it could not fit in the box? I said if so then why not come to the door then? plus priority mail tends to come before normal mail anyways.

one guy I like he always comes at the same set time if I do use USPS.. but maybe he is on vacation or something :-/

When we were in Austin (large community mail box) that happened 99% of the time. I could see the mailbox from my living rm and often watched when I was expecting a package.

Complained numerous times to the 'manager' at the postal unit our mail came from - to absolutely no avail. She just smiled, apologized and that was it.

I agree with Crypto: The have outlived their usefulness and I think it is time [snip] to dismantle them by opening it competitors.

This has happened to me before. In fact, it would say "note left" on the online tracking, but nothing was left.

The package did arrive the next day, though...

Had this happen about a month ago. Website showed delivery attempt (& I WAS home; doorbell never rang!), but no pink slip was found @ the door. Called up the post office next day to see if they had it (they did). They just let me pick it up w/ my ID.

I guess it's easy to do this when you think you're the only game in town.

Hah, I remember sitting with my friend outside his house when he was expecting a package... the mail woman comes up, hands him the mail, and in the middle was that slip saying 'no answer' that was well prepared in advance... when he showed it to her, she just said to go to the post office, it was too big to load it in the truck.

The actual package? A 3 x 2 inches box that weighted nothing. (All it had in it were earrings...)

This is why I have items delivered at work rather than my house. The postal carrier we have for our neighborhood where I live is lazy. She's looked right at my husband as he goes out to check the mail and lied to him that she doesn't have a package, yet there's a slip in the mail.

When the package is delivered to me at work, there's no way the carrier can tell us there's no one to get it because there is always someone at the front desk to accept the mail.

But honestly, they're not all that bad. It's been a hit or miss for me. At my previous apartment (where a lot of old people lived), the woman would call whoever had a package from downstairs and tell them to go get it, even if that person is an elderly person that needs a good 10 minutes to get his/her wheelchair out, whereas the woman would need to just take 5 steps and take an -elevator- up.

At the new condo where we just moved it, the guy is SUPER NICE. Not only did he go up the third floor where we live with no elevator, to deliver a package, but when he saw me coming out with letters to mail, he actually took them (when it's not even in job) and saved me a trip to the mail box. This guy is definitely getting a card+gift on new year.

Here they will honk the horn 2 or 3 times. After that, they begin to fill out the slip while waiting. If you dont make it out in time, the slip goes in the box and off they go.

I love how my Fedex driver just drops the package on my porch and doesn't knock or anything. I'm sitting at my desk 5 feet away from the front door waiting all day for a package that's been sitting there for hours.

Ohhh speaking of that you have to hear the fedex driver that delivers in my area.. I hate how he shows the package as being delivered but it takes him about 25-30 min to really show up at my door.. I complained like 5 times over this so he called me up on the home phone and told me not to call fedex saying the package is missing..

It was too funny getting ready to step out
