There's a quaint hotel up around the sleepyhollow area that would be nice and romantic. Its a quiet area and nice to walk around.

You can include the wineries on the North Fork as well. (There are some on the South Fork, but none that I know of even remotely close to Montauk.) There are a lot of bed & breakfasts on the North Fork. Check out Greenport. You could also go on a ferry ride (and back). |

The North Fork area begins slightly east of Riverhead where the tip of Long Island breaks up into two points -- one north, one south. Google Map Greenport Long Island and you'll see it.

So the North Fork of Greenport / Riverhead area is more romantic than Montauk ?
