Governor Moonbeam actually has a fighting chance for a 3rd term, though he can no longer portray himself as taking a vow of poverty - he now lives in a $2M home in Oakland Hills. |

The point is that Brown can't easily play the Millionaire Card, even if it applies - because he used all that political currency when he ran for governor before. He was famous for sleeping on the floor of a rented bachelor apartment, and personally driving heads of state in his Plymouth Belvedere.
When he was Mayor of Oakland (AFTER being governor and running for President three times), he moved in an industrial loft, trying to convince the middle class that Oakland was a safe place to move to. Unfortunately, you can't reform a place like that with one celebrity, no law enforcement, army or bulldozers, and a public school system.
He'll also have a hard time playing the Goldman-Sachs card, since sister Kathy works there.
Whichever of these clowns prevails, doesn't make much difference to me. Until we have a legislature that represents the citizens and taxpayers of the state, we're hosed. I think we'll have more fun with Jerry, but see better results with the Meginator.
In Santa Monica, $2M will get you a 4500' house north of Montana, on an 8K lot, with lots of snooty Hollywood limousine liberal neighbors to fight with over whose Prius is more plugged-in. |

If your dad was a serial killer, because he wanted (not genetic), does that mean you are just as bad as him?
I'm surprised $2M will buy so much in Santa Monica. -- My Blog 2.0 |

Kathy and Jerry both benefit from the family name/legacy and espouse much of the same philosophy. She only lost her bid for governor because insisted on talking too much. Like most of their clan, they speak of the John Edwards' "two Americas", but never acknowledge that they are both part of the Elites that create the divide. Yes, they are guilty by association.
Whitman is no better, and her "business acumen" doesn't impress me, except that understanding a balance sheet and intending to right it are notions foreign to the majority party in California.
The reason you can buy "so much" in SM right now is that the banks are still making money investing bailout funds in treasuries, not writing new mortgages or extending business credit lines. |
