I got these ads when looking up the word |
said by PhoenixDown:you said that twice ... why does Christie suck? Just off the top of my head:
He's trying to cut funding for libraries by 75%.
He cut my town's education funding by 75%.
He raised NJ Transit fares by up to 45%. However, he pledged he will not increase gas taxes even though our gas tax hasn't been increased in about 25 years and is the third-lowest in the country.
He's cutting taxes for people who make over $400k. But he's raising taxes on poor people, insurance companies, and hospitals.
Just so it's clear, I think Corzine sucked, too. I wish we could have Bob Franks for governor, but he died earlier this month. |

 | we have a huge deficit for this year and like $8 next year. NJ is one of the highest taxed states in the country. NJ has the highest property taxes in the country. public transportation is never, ever solvent and loses money every year. And you;re complaining that he isnt raising gas taxes?
Christie significantly cut state funds to schools, which is forcing schools to slash budgets. even with the imposed budget cuts, like 70% of school district budgets were voted down b/c they werent cut enough. that's twice as many as failed budget votes as normal. He wants to fully or partly privatize public transit and get that off the books. He's proposed a bill to limit state contributions to public employee healthcare and pensions and wants to break up or limit public union control and wages. -- »valid.canardpc.com/cache/screens···7860.png |

2 edits | reply to Somnambul33t Please explain how cutting our town's school funding is going to reduce my property taxes.
If you look at what Chrstie did, he cut funding from the school systems that were operating the most efficiently. The more efficient your school system was, the bigger cut you got. If you had a rainy-day fund and held some money in reserve, he took it away. And he gave the money to the inefficient urban districts like Asbury Park, which already spends over $35,000 a year per pupil. Say that number again: over $35,000 per pupil.
In your analysis, keep in mind that state income taxes are constitutionally dedicated to property tax relief, and cannot be used for the state budget itself.
EDIT: As an aside:
said by Paul Mulshine : ...Christie spent most of that campaign dodging questions about just what he would do about property taxes.
The answer came when he took office, and it was not a pleasant one for the people of Morris County. The new governor cut state property tax relief aid to the countys schools by an astounding 37 percent. Christie cut aid to Mendham Township by 99 percent.
"Theres a lot of buyers remorse in his own home town," said Merkt. "I have a lot of people coming up to me and saying, Im sorry I worked for that SOB in the election.'"
