Sipgate (US) incoming call problem

Sorry. I solved my problem. On sipgate's help page, on the right, they have a feature to show you their settings for various ATAs. I changed my PAP2 settings to their settings and incoming calls now work.

Why Sipgate? Free incoming calls. If you have Google Voice and aren't happy with the reliability of Gizmo, you can't point Google Voice towards your Sipgate number and it's a free incoming call.

Sipgate also allows you to choose your outgoing caller ID number. I set it to Google Voice so any outgoing Sipgate calls show a caller ID for my GV number.

If you use Google Voice to initiate a call and have it ring your Sipgate number, the outgoing call would also be free (since Google calls into your Sipgate number).

Outgoing Sipgate calls are under 2 cents/minute.

Haven't figured out whether Sipgate is reliable and what kind of call quality they have but it seems worth the trouble.

However, setting up a standard Linksys PAP2 wasn't that easy until I figured out their help page settings for it.

Incoming calls are fine for me - the voicemail retrieval number is acting up at the moment...

Of course sipgate.com is quite new. On the other hand I have been using sipgate.de for about 5 years in Germany (my original home) and the US. So have several friends. Two of them as full landline replacements. We have zero complaints. One or two very small outages over time - nothing more than any other carrier.

I just signed up for the US version yesterday. I am wishing them well and hope the service will shape up as nicely as it did in Germany - if it does it will be my step off vonage (e.g. in Germany they offer flat rate calling to 15 countries for less than 9 EUR per month)....

Noticed I got a reply from support about the VM issue in the middle of the night (much sooner then expected) - I think the support is currently handled out of Germany - or they might even have some follow the sun with the UK/Germany locations...

I called my SIPGate (US) number from my GV and the audio quality on the call wasn't bad, except it had a noticeable latency! Unless GV has a problem to SIP URI to a G5 account and doesn't support an open SIP URI forwarding, I will definitely stick with this route.

If you use Google Voice to initiate a call and have it ring your Sipgate number, the outgoing call would also be free (since Google calls into your Sipgate number).
Are you sure that the minutes on the call aren't deducted from the 300minutes/day allowance?

For me, it is as simple as configuring a PAP2v1 for a Gizmo5 account. As a matter of fact, I took my PAP2v1 configured to a Gizmo5 account, replaced the Gizmo5 information with the information from my SIPGate (US) account, and my PAP2v1 registered just fine to service the I/O calls with no problems. Since then, I just put back my Gizmo5 account on my PAP2v1 and added a channel on my asterisk system to register to a SIPGate server with no problems to service I/O calls.

You're the 2nd person who asked me this question. IIRC, someone posted here right after GV announced its beta test service saying GV put a limit to 300 minutes/day on outbound to PSTN usage.

5 hours a day is plenty if its true. Skype has a 6 hours a day limit and you pay for that. Google is being generous for being free.
