| reply to flody1 Re: [modem/router] Verizon DSL 3MB MODEM/ROUTER
I can tell you from my experience that I just signed up for the same thing. It said on line with the up to 3mb connection I would get a FREE modem/router, well no such luck...they sent me a 6100F and I can tell you this is DEFINATELY not a router combo. Not to mention I am having connection issues. The last two days the stinking thing has been down. I have reset it several different times, flushed the dns yadda yadda..no luck. Then I come home from work tonight and have internet connection again. *sigh* no idea what the heck is going on. Oh and they shipped out my welcome kit three weeks in advance before activation was supposed to happen..funny part is, they sent the filters only. Called Verizon to ask about the modem, they looked it up and whattya know, they forgot to ship, so then they shipped and sent the wrong modem, called to gripe and they tell me that I will have to pay for a modem/router , I argue back that NO I was supposed to get a free combo in the first place, she offers to send me over to another agent, afte so long talking to someone I can barely understand I am totally frustrated and tell her to forget it I will just buy a router myself. Good luck to ya. |

| I think the 6100F is a modem/router. It has only one Ethernet port in it, but when it's in "router mode" (which was the default for mine) you have to connect an Ethernet patch cable from the 6100F's lone Ethernet port to an Ethernet multi-port hub or switch. Then you can connect multiple computers to the switch.
I haven't been able to get my 6100F to work, by the way. |

| reply to Ragdoll Verizon service man was here checking my line for activation soon. Told me I wouldn't get 3mb,,,,768 maybe ???? He had no clue why they wouldn't send the modem to a new custumer?? Called Verizon about 768 ..$17.99 deal they had advertised, quess what it will cost me $25 I think she decided. |

| Update: About 7-10-09 got frustrated and canceled DSL and put phone service back to what it was, called about 11AM. Later that day seviceman came to install , I had already been turned on and off that evening I think. Called to reorder DSL the next Sun., order locked. ......was told it could take 2 days to 2 weeks to unlock. Tryed again to order and it went thru $17.99 plan. Have been sent modem 704 , internet fine, etc. But E-mail never activated and shows your e-mail account suspended. Have hotmail, etc. for e-mail. Been told I reordered too soon and my DSL wasn't cleared or something. Hope they don't shut me off again. Thanks for reading |
