Anyone used DBii miniPCI cards yet?

I just noticed a new company (DBii) with high power miniPCI cards - Titan Wireless site carries them. Anyone used their F-50 (5Ghz) card? Any feedback will be much appreciated.

Their F-50 PRO card (announced last week) has both RF and PoE surge protection on the miniPCI, otherwise it seems to be equivalent to the F-50. Very good idea with one exception - it appears that they are sharing the PCB ground plane. They should provide a separate ground (and lug) for surge protectors. Kudos for a very original WISP design.

we've tried a few of the 2.4 cards and they are doing quite well. Haven't tried the 5.8.

I Second the lug as you would need to design a custom SBC in order to mount it unless the card overhung the sbc so you could screw it down to a standoff.

We are using them in 5.8 range and they are working great.

Hello

I work for Dbii.

Due to large number of trial customer requests we have decided to make the surge module physically detachable from the F50-PRO miniPCI card. However, the F50-PRO & F20-PRO cards will still have the RF lightning protection built-in. They will also have 2 additional screw holes so the POE surge module can be attached to the miniPCI card. Detaching the card slightly increases the cost but should make it much more flexible in terms of the deployment. We will have the new pictures of the detachable surge module and the miniPCI card shortly.

Regarding Lutful's concern about using different ground planes, it can be done now if the detachable surge module are not tied together. Of course, this goes away from the original purpose of tying them together. However, most of the customers we talked to mentioned they connect the RF lightning protector and the POE surge protector to a single ground which is why we havent bothered to separate them. If you think this approach is wrong, we are willing to listen to your feedback.

Petecarlson - You may not need another SBC as long as the POE cable at the input has proper cable relief and does not add any stress on the miniPCI slot. But you may need a different enclosure than you are using currently if the miniPCI with the POE surge protector protrudes too much.

If you have other questions, you can email support at dbii.com as well.

Thanks

Ram
