Try playing a character like Guile or Zangief. |

| reply to Vathral Have pre-ordered it off of Steam. Very excited and looking forward to when it unlocks. I've actually had the game for the 360 since release, but I can't stand the d-pad. Using my Sega Saturn USB pad, maybe I can finally pull off some decent combos and stop jumping on top of fireballs. |

Edit: So who won in that video? All those nerds going nuts at the screen...I am speechless! |

All those nerds going nuts at the screen...I am speechless! Now this response made me speechless. Button smashers are just that, people who have no idea what they are doing and hoping to string a combo. People who don't button smash can still string good 8-15 hit combos in SF4.
Your definition of button smashing is quite odd. More class lol... |

| reply to TigerLord said by TigerLord :Doing a combo still requires smashing buttons except in an orderly fashion... button smashing all the same, except with a little more class! By that definition, anyone using a game pad for any game is button smashing. Think about it, what do you with a game pad in any game?
I take it you don't understand because you are a "key smasher"? -- "I like to refer to myself as an Adult Film Efficienato." - Stuart Bondek |

Edit: So who won in that video? All those nerds going nuts at the screen...I am speechless! Even someone who doesn't play street fighter much would know how awesome that video is. Let me explain, of course, the fact that you claim pulling off combo's correctly is still button smashing is absurd.
The character on the right (Ken) who is player 1 is represented by the health bar on the left. Note how he basically only has to take only a single hit from anything, and even if he blocks, he will die. The other character still has a decent amount of HP left.
Player 2 initiated Chun-Li's super combo move which would have surely killed Player 1 (Ken) no problem, even if he would have blocked. However, the alpha series has parry. Pulling off a parry allows you to block the hit without taking any damage. To pull off a parry requires perfect timing, and the fact that he does so many parry's in a row is allready amazing.
However, he makes things even better, and after the super-combo from Player 2 is completely parried, he unleashes his own super-combo and completely wipes out Player 2 when all player 2 had to do was hit him with anything once.
The video is pure amazing, even if you don't like the game. It doesn't take a street fighter fan to appreciate the level of awesome witnessed in the video. This is why everyone in the crowd is going nuts.
Back on topic, i've been enjoying SF4. There are some new concepts that I don't enjoy, such as the Focus concept, and I don't like how they have made the game less combo-focused and more whatever it is now focused. The Alpha series (In my opinion the best) was all about making huge combo's in sucession. SF4 really doesn't make this possible. -- THIS IS SPENCER. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED - I HAVE JOE.
