| is there a southern CA Roadrunner outage this afternoon?
Just to be sure, there is a major outage going on in southern CA. I was on hold with TS for over an hour and both he and an online chat technician agreed there is a problem causing no connectivity or very sloooow connectivity on their server side. (I'm writing this from another provider)
Just to confirm with evry1 as I'm surprised its not mentioned here (yet).

Seems to be happening again this afternoon, you're right. |

Yep. I was told it was affecting about 3/4 of the Los Angeles area.
Husband was complaining about latency last night, then it went down completely a while after midnight, was okay this morning, then ~1:30pm went down the crapper.
This is what I'm getting on our 10/1 turbo, after a number of tries where the test wouldn't even complete.

| Well, my year renewal is coming up in August. Does anyone know if complaining to their retention department still works?? I've been getting RR Standard for 34.95 the passed 2 years and don't mind an outage once in a while as long as I don't have to pay higher than that. I'll be pissed if they make me pay the $45 this time around and call my bluff - wish we got FIOS.

Back to normal here too but it was back to normal yesterday morning as well.
I wonder if it'll start getting bad again this afternoon and into the evening like it did the past two days. |

Still sucks in Westchester. it's been going on for over a week now. Saw the supervisors in the area last week, but nothing has changed. |

| reply to synchron Same 1mbit result as above. It most likely is a Level3 issue being that the speedtest run on rr servers works flawlessly anything outside of that realm is squased to 1~2mbit for this guy. Just Spoke with tech support and the conclusion he came up with was that I had to reset my router after telling him numerous times that I already had. These guys are useless and you just KNOW they know what's going on but can't tell you. Either that or they just don't and twc is simply broken. |

| reply to synchron The speedtest server to SanDiego at Speedtest.net is not slow. It is the Los Angeles speedtest.net server at Fastsoft that is bogus and inflated to give LA users the ILLUSION they have a fast connection when they do not. TW users in congested areas using speedtest.net LA server will get really high download speeds when in fact they are lucky if they are really getting half their provisioned download. I laugh when people post their speedtest.net results using the Fastsoft LA server. What a joke, and they really believe it. They could report 30mbps down and people would believe/report they are getting that.
Now that the Fastsoft LA test site is not available people run a speedtest from a different site and see their poor download and wonder what has happened. Nothing has happened. You always had poor download in the evening but the LA speedtest site at Fastsoft INFLATED your download.
Run a few tests using a local speakeasy or download a large file from an ftp site that has a big pipe. That will give you a more accurate range. |

1 edit | reply to synchron I had an outtage yesterday, but resetting my modem actually seemed to fix that.
Had an small outtage and big slowdnw just a little while ago again (at 3:15am-4:10am). Was out for a few minutes at first, then slow. Actually in the middle of downloading some things and was using all my bandwidth at 1.2Mbps+ (10mbps) before it went down, then dropped to a staggering 20-25Kbps (150-200kbps) or so, but now seems to be getting back to normal.
Zip code is 90034. On the border of Culver City & LA...right near the Sony Picture Studios. |
