ok.
sorry for being "vague"
the ip was a miss type , the last 2 numbers were reversed
192.168.2.1 - 192.168.1.2
pingable yes
tried putty..password protected and now it times out when i try to reach it(the page) putty still see's it |

| So with it originally misconfigured, if you access a device at 192.168.1.2 it went outside of your network and routed on the internet and into someone elses machine? That seems unlikely as 192.168.1.2 shouldn't route.
Is it possible that you're somehow connected wirelessly to someone's 192.168.1.x network and were accessing it that way?

I think it could be a knology movie server or some such...but as you pointed out I shouldnt be able to see it |
