I wouldn't expect anything anytime soon without analog migration. They are pretty much maxed out I do believe. |

Maxed out indeed. No one will come clean and tell me if they've tested higher frequencies (like EIA channel 119 or 120). So based on EIA channel 118 being the highest available frequency, were topped off.
Moving SD to 15:1 muxes and possibly reorganizing some current muxes may get us a little bit of space, but the easiest thing to do is migrate analog. Analog migrations have been pushed back to March, due to the "migration freeze" that went into effect to not confuse customers between cable digital migration and OTA digital migration. |

Not to be a smart ass Comcast tech but what are Comcast priorties for central PA? Seems to me getting our systems up to par with other Comcast systems, dish and satellite would be on the list of "THINGS TO DO SOON". |

Well Bend Broadband just completed it's all digital conversion. They have 750 MHz systems and recovered over half of that bandwidth by removing analogs. They now have 71 HD channels with at least 5 more coming this month alone. This year they are doing DOCSIS 3.0 and IP simulcast shortly thereafter.
RCN is another provider that in all but the Lehigh Valley have completed the all digital conversion.

If Comcast would do this to Reading, it would be the savior to all our bandwidth needs. Not only that but it would help the more important worries such as theft of service. Those analog modulators could also be sold and some money reclaimed in the process.
Pass that along to upper management. We want DTA's! We want HD! We want DOCSIS 3.0! We want a better DVR experience! I know a few people who are currently SERIOUSLY looking into DirecTV in the Reading system. What I'm telling them? Go for it. Until the Reading system improves, I will not defend it. I think loosing subs is something to worry about. |

Not sure what that means because the same tech told me my system was 750mhz, when everyone here says its 860! |

Set top message today says you can now order premium channels with the remote. How do you do this? Would there be an icon on the channel or something in the info menu? I have all the premiums.
Guide/firmware looked the same on the DCT-700 I checked today. No 3rd Party apps either. Must be some xml configuration file change to add something that I-Guide always supported. Then also a backend server or software module piece to take those order requests, forward them to billing and forward conditional access grants to the ONT-1000. |

Since I don't have any premiums, I checked it out for you. When you tune to the channel, it says, obviously, that the channel is not authorized and says press info for ordering information. There is a little "Buy" button just like On Demand or an In Demand channel. |

| That's a neat feature. They should of had this for awhile. It automates the process and saves phone reps from doing it for you. There's other providers who've done this before. iSubscribe is a module to the Passport system which allows changing your current package. iSubscribe is more robust, as they can have special combo deals in there that you can pick (say an HBO + Max combo). The iGuide way sounds like you will get charged the ala carte price for that particular channel. |

As to the getting our system up to par comment, the Reading system has changed GREATLY in the past 8 months. We've replaced a lot of feeder, added more fiber and did more node splits. Our plant design in most of Berks County is now up to date. As for Pottsville, yeah it's going to take a lot longer for that system to catch up. We've had guys up there trying to help out, but its so old there.
Now with the Digital Transition being pushed back till summer, we now have to do more installs to get more people prepared for the switch.
Yes I know everyone who knows about Docsis 3.0 wants it. Were going start off bonding 3 Channels then go from there. This will not start happening till next year. As for the DVR, we fixed those problems, I have 2 HDDVR's and they work fine. As for the Direct TV scare you mention, the amount of people we gain is MUCH higher than the subs we lose. Trust me, were not hurting. I personally am doin installs everyday.
We brought on two more channels which are not HD and no one will probably watch. This year our HD line up will double, just give us time. |

How about replacing those SAIII LE's, trunk and bridger amps with 860 MHz or 1 GHz electronics. I don't consider it up to date unless that is done. 750 MHz of bandwidth isn't good enough for everybody anymore. |
