jaykaykay 4 Ever Young Premium,MVM join:2000-04-13 Scottsdale, AZ | reply to FunnyBones I doubt if it would find anything on mine other than what I chose not to have but it sounds like an interesting program. I find it's just as easy to make a hop to the updating site(s) and get what's needed a couple of times a week. |

Definitely NOT worth the purchase cost of $30. Not when the very same thing can be done for free simply by going to microsoft update. Plus, there is a well known freeware product that does the same. |

1 edit | reply to jaykaykay I agree it may not be worth $30 dollars as a SOHO user, but for a business model, it is worth it.
This tool picked up 1 for me and it was one that has been out for a while, so Belarc/Secunia missed it too?
I visit Microsoft update and it didn't list it, so don't go saying it is quite a worthless a tool as you may think. I think it quite ironic we look at 3rd party vendors to check our Windows/Microsoft updates, because The owner of the O/S doesn't do it properly.

Purchase cost? I think you better look again the posted tool (Windows Vulnerability Scanner) is free the one that cost $30 is (Protector Plus 2008 antivirus software). -- Do you ever get the feeling that the only reason we have elections is to find out if the polls were right?

A quick look around says it is free yes, but why is it advertised as a 30 day trial though? (Top button on the download page?)
Why would it be advertised as such if it is free. I feel they may be leading up to charging for it, or not telling us everything.
It was a questionable fact it did find an update missed. Any one sent this comany an email as yet to ask the question? -- The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing - Edmund Burke |

| They tell you why it is a small part of the protector plus software and that program you would have to pay for but this tool can be downloaded free of cost. -- Are you part of the cattle? |

1 edit | reply to FunnyBones It found 1 update that I missed and 8 inapplicable updates (unfortunately.) Seems like a useful program, however flawed it is. |

1 edit | reply to FunnyBones Thank you FunnyBones . It found this patch was missing:
»support.microsoft.com/kb/953155
Oddly this security vulnerability was not flagged by MS Update, BelArc Advisor or Secunia PSI. It appears it should have been included in the October 2008 patch Tuesday. Downloading and installing the update worked fine. -- "Wisdom begins with putting the right name on a thing" (Old Chinese Proverb) |
