WMP - [DSLR] Sea Dogs - Round 4 - Official Fleet Thread

The [DSLR] Sea Dogs has been created in Round 4 of WMP!!!

To join the fleet please post in the "WMP - Registration Thread - I want to join the fleet." found here: »WMP - Registration Thread - I want to join the fleet.

NOTE: You will also need to apply to join the fleet in WMP.

We will require a minimum of Level 5, Sloop Class boat or higher and a donation of 10,000 doubloons and 10 gold bars to join the fleet. (Donation to be as soon as possible after acceptance to the fleet)

This thread can be used to discuss official fleet business. (ie. changing requirements, home ports, etc.)

Thanks,
Walter

What do you guys think about not allowing referral links in our posts... I would like the gold that a referral gives as much as the next guy... but I think it detracts from the discussion if everything is basically an advertisement.

Just my idea...

What do you guys think?

I agree with keeping referral links out. There are other places to display them.

Yea, as a matter of fact, i dont think the mods even allow it.

Small tip to avoid a pointless post:

Disarm your crew before buying a new ship, THEY WILL STEAL YOUR SH*T!!! (Remember, they ARE pirates...)

I've created a fleet photobucket account for the sharing of port maps. Sandbars, islands, and reefs should be identical for all players... so it is extrememly helpful in conserving your nav points.

I'll send the login and password to the members i currently recognize online. IM me in-game for login and password if you don't hear from me.

There is an individual album for each port. When taking your screen captures, I suggest clicking the blue book at the bottom of your explore seas screen -- it gives an overview that displays the entire map, as well as the date and time. I loaded one up under the San Pedro album for an example.

I suggest putting the date and time in your filename, so it is easily read -- (7-28 4.49pm.jpg_) -- without having to click on the photo. I was thinking that we could try to have just one image in each ports album... if yours is newer than what is there, upload yours and delete the old.

Open for suggestions as to whether you guys want to stick with the way i started it and my ideas for keeping one photo in each port, or if you want to try something else.

im having trouble finding something that looks good in a 15px square, im more of a "large resolution" kinda guy

what would you guys want on a flag? a logo? a sea dog? (wtf is a sea dog anyway lmao) *does google search* i need some suggestions!!!

edit: tried 2 flags, just a little BBR logo that i stole from the one next to my bookmark for this site and did a google for "sea dog" i can look into making it a gif so it looks like its waving.

Haha... nice job on the dog with an earring..

Well, since they are so small, i am a fan of simple shapes like circles... kinda like the smiley face in yours

i like the flag of the ASS fleet from last round, because it is a globe, and the non round parts are transparent, so it looks cool on their ships... like this one:

»walkmyplank.net/member.php?id=11418

also, this guys ring of fire is a neat one... just a simple, easily recognizable shape, but with a little movement to jazz it up.

»walkmyplank.net/member.php?id=11099

So, i'm a fan for a unique shape that is easily recognizable and sets us apart from the basic skullandcrossbones -- but just my opinion, others can chime in. maybe those examples will prompt you for an idea, if not i'll try to think of something else later.

thx.

oh dude, i really like that coin! it's like a mario/doubloon coin.. I'm cool with that... we gotta have some more input, tho. I'm gonna make a post on the fleet forum and direct people here to decide on a fleet flag (because we can't post pictures on the WMP forum).

Awesome job tho!

(and the globe is nice too)

I don't know that it should be mandatory; but, it is cool sailing into a harbor and seeing another spinning coin hanging out.

i'll throw my vote in for mandatory, but not a big deal either way for me.

last round several fleets had mandatory flags and it made those fleets more recognizable... at least to me... when i came across someone with a fleet flag that i knew, it made that person and that fleet stick out more in my head the more i saw it... and to me it symbolized a stronger camaraderie within those fleets as compared to the other ones

either way tho..

my vote is for making it mandatory when we move to a competing fleet.

Guess I need to read in this forum more often.. The coin rules, I just put mine up. I would say it makes it a lot easier to see whos who when filtering ppl.

A little tip for you all:

Try sailing back through fog while exploring if you can, many times they reveal crates with golden tickets, quest items, or just crates of random stuff. I heard storms do as well but run the risk of taking more nav and hull strength.

Our photobucket account can really pay off if the fog is in the same spots, since other players might not get the same quest item, but there usually is still a crate with repair kits in it, at the least.
