3Web

I signed up on-line for 3Web on Saturday...and haven't received a reply yet. I had a confirmation that they've received (at the time of sign up) my request for sign up, but I haven't had a reply email to the supplied address stating they've confirmed and are processing anything. Or a confirmation for the date it's supposed to be activated.
Is this typical?

Re: 3Web

Welcome to 3web! This is a typical. Did you read the reviews before you signed up? It's not too late to find an alternative. Leaving them was the best thing I ever did.:)

Re: 3Web

I read it's a crap shoot. I used to be with Rogers, and the local Rogers is pretty good. If it's back boned off of their infrastructure, I'm hoping it'll be half decent. There's no contract, so I'll give it 6 weeks. If it's crap, I'll dump them and go back to using Rogers....and put a note on my American Express not to accept any billing from them without my specific consent. Can't be any worse than Acanac after all.

When they're good they're good but when you need technical support they're non-existent. The price is great though. Good luck.

How's their email service in terms of reliability.

As stated time and again. Never rely on ISP email if email is important to you.

Interesting that you ask about e-mail. I'm still receiving e-mail on my 3Web account even though I canceled in March 2007!

My e-mail is and will always be gmail because it helped me during the transition from Rogers to Velcom.

Imagine how many people and forums I would have to tell about my new e-mail everytime I change ISPs.

Scoop,
You obviously had big issues with 3web. If you can put thier crappy Tech support and customer service aside, the internet service is perfect.

Since the big blow up last summer (with a small hiccup a few months ago) I can honestly say that I've had NO issues with them whatsoever. The service has been a flat out 7mb and it's worked like a charm.

Jackr, once you are up and running any issues you might have would be similar to that of Robbers, the only thing is 3web doesn't throttle or cap

I never got that far. Turns out that 3Web had issues last week on billing and rating, and the reason I never got a key was the account wasn't created. The soonest they could have hooked me up would have been the 14th. Not good. I declined, and took the CSR's ID and case number just in case I get billed next month by 3web after declining the service. I phoned Rogers, and they still had the MAC/Serial number of my SB5100 on file. They enabled it, and I'm back up and running. I'll miss the 2Wire modem for my DSL, but it's nice to have 7mb service again.
I'll probably give 3web a try in the fall.

out of curiousity, have you ever been charged for going over a bandwidth cap? I am a new 3web subscriber and all I've read is a vague "You might be subject to cable throughput fees".

Other than that - I'm loving their service. They have picked up the phone and been helpful whenever I had a problem (only at the beginning) and the speeds are great for the area (constant 9 Mb/s down, just over 1 Mb/s up; unthrottled).

Not a peep
While my usage is down SIGNIFICANTLY, it's still higher then any advertised plan from the majors

We had a phone issue last week with a few hours outage, but overall phone quality is excellent.
They had a voicemail outage for a week, looks like it's back, but no more British-accented Mary , so I guess they made changes.... their Tech Support pre-recording mentioned their engineers were working on the voicemail issue. I must say it was smart of them to finally make pre-recorded messages about such problems as that will go a long way to reducing incoming TS calls.
Really CAN NOT complain about speeds/pings/quality etc

As I said, I'll probably give them a try in Sept. Rogers is still Rogers after all. High price. Steady connection (except for the damned 12:00 p.m. Sync timing QAM/QPSK failure every day. I assume it's a problem with my older version of the SB5100's firmware (2.3.1.3).)
3Web is the same QOS, except for the lower price.

I was considering 3web but I was worried about the same inconsistent messages re: bandwidth. Some people claimed to have been told first hand by 3web that they were starting to apply a 60GB bandwidth limit, while other people claimed no. I wrote 3web an email and IGSJake a PM about it, but got no response from either. I would love to hear if others like elwoodblues have gone well over 60GB without problem.

Hey Stinkfoot, where are you that you're getting 10mb?
