Internet Disconnect

I've got a problem with my internet where it keeps disconnecting at random intervals. It disconnects then reconnects very fast in about 3-10 seconds. I use cox high speed internet with netgear WGT624 router and motorola SB5100 modem

Any ideas?

I am in Peoria, AZ and I just moved here from Surprise last week. I took all my equipment with me i.e. 2 cable boxes and the modem. 4 days now of calling cox and getting the worst service I am at a loss here at what to do as well. My cable boxes will just randomly go dead then reboot and my modem while playing WOW the online game will drop very fast for 10 secs or so then be fine but enough to cause my game to drop me. I have bought all new routers and net cards and tonight go figure while just direct connected to the modem 3 times in 20 mins I lose connection again. I have powered off my modem and restarted it waiting to see if it crashes again. I have done all the online tests and even upgraded to the fastest internet for 15 bucks more. I have tried 3 other computers and also a spare laptop same problems I know its not wireless. I also tried to connect to my neighbors computer come to find out 2 others on my block have the same problem ( Didn't know so many people play warcraft lol) I call cox back and they told me there is no "issues about service" and to have the neighbors call in. I just gave up and now thinking about having a T1 put in from a local company.

If you could PM me your cable modem MAC address I'll see if I can figure out what is going on.

Ok, I went and turned all my equipment in to Cox today. Drove a hour to the building and waited almost 3 hours in line. Got a new modem, new boxes etc. I can now not watch tv as the 2 boxes they gave me are both defective. The guy on the phone was the biggest jerk ever and just scheduled me an appointment for next week and told me he could not waste anymore time on me and good luck. Good news cable modem works i'll post back after I test it out tonight and let you know if drops again. They gave me what appears to be a brand new SA DPC2100R2 cable modem. I am bummed I did all new speed tests and I am not getting the 14-21mb down and 5mb up I am topping out at 8-10 down and 2 up. (Maybe the newer ones cap you off more?) I will however sacrafice some speed for a reliable connection for sure! COX1 thank you for the help I will pm you later if this fails again.

WOW here we go again. I been online for a hour and half. 3 drops. I am on the phone again with a cox person who says i have too many work orders and they dont know what to do. I am about to seriously go postal here. New modem didnt do a darn thing but look nicer. Dropped service at 9:59, 10:25, 10:31. COXTECH1 I sent you the mac id any help would be great! Oh yeah now there saying they are charging me for every service visit I have scheduled because its more then the first time in 1 month they came out. The first visit out here was to remove a filter off my line and I did a self install so they really never came to do anything. Is anyone else out in Peoria dealing with this BS!??!?!?

I sent you a PM regarding your technical issue and have requested that somebody research to find out who you spoke with on the phone and find out just what happened. While it is normal for there to be a charge if we have to come out during the first 30 days after a self-install if the problem is not on our end. It is not company policy to automatically charge for repeat visits.

Please note that this is not an official Cox support site and the Cox reps help here as they can. They do a great job, but you need to show some patience.

I don't know what happened either but in either case, your PM's didn't include a cable modem MAC address so I was not able to find your account.
