[XP Home] Is there a sp3 disc available?

I'm thinking like the way you could get a physical sp2 disc at many stores or through MS for free. I picked one up for free at Staples for example. Anyway similar ways to get a physical sp3 disc? Thanks.

Just make your own. Download SP3 and integrate it into XP.

Click for full size
Yes, just use AutoStreamer or nLite to slipstream your own (mine shown above).

[EDIT] If you just need SP3 alone, Microsoft has the ready-to-burn ISO available for download (free).

I don't know how and I don't really have the time to learn how to make my own sp3 disc. From what I've read about it, it would take a far bigger computer geek than myself to make one. I was hoping MS would be offering a physical disc (like they did with sp2) so updates will be much quicker should I need to reformat. The physical disc is a real plus for someone like myself still on dialup.

Oh, ok thanks Howie. The ISO sounds like it would be easier. I'll look into that. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure it may be available from Microsoft but I think it'll cost you about $10 (disc+shipping).
I'm sure someone here may have a link.

Well after looking at the download size of sp3 I think I wouldn't mind paying the $10. It would take some time to download 544.9 MB on dialup.

Yeah, that would literally take days....

Hang in there, the CD isn't available yet but should be in the next few weeks. I found SP2 is still available for a shipping charge alone, so that may be the case for SP3 as well.

It is already available. It costs $4 for the disk and $6 for the shipping. Someone posted in another in reply to my inquiry and said this and gave the link. I can't find my post or the reply though. I was looking earlier and was sort of in a hurry so I may have just overlooked it. I tried a search and the most recent search result was April 27 and it was since then. I thought I bookmarked it but I don't see it in the XP SP3 folder.

The Windows Xp SP3 CDs are currently on back order, but there should be more available around May 22, 2008.
The SP3 CDs cost $3.99, plus $5.99 shipping.
Telephone MSFT (I have only a USA number at the moment) at 1-800-360-7561, and choose the prompt for help/info about service packs.

There has never been a restriction on making copies of Service Pack ISOs or distributed CDs of the Service Pack. As long as they have not been altered.

Many of the large computer retailing chains had formal programs to do exactly that with Service Pack 2 for XP; as did many Computer Magazines.

Uh, it was a joke. Because all he did in any case was to put the disc in a scanner.

I scoured the Microsoft website and there's not a single reference to the availabilty of the SP3 CD. I'd love to see the link if it's "already available".

[EDIT] If this SP3 release schedule is accurate (see above), I'm assuming May 19 is when CD media should become available.

It is not generally available yet.
Remember that XP SP3 is not generally available on Windows Update yet either. The process is deliberately done in stages. The potential pool of requesters of the CD is in excess of 500 million. (Remember too that they have to support 130+ localized language versions when offering the CD.)

For localized US English versions, you can request this by a toll-free phone call, but it is back ordered at the moment:
