Winrar key file in Vista X64?

I have a valid rarreg.key file that works fine on my XP system. When I install it in C:\Program Files (x86)\WinRAR nothing happens and it continues displaying the 40 day trial license. It's the same version on both systems, it is the key for this version (3.71). Any idea why it isn't working/what I'm doing wrong?

You may need to right click on WinRAR and run as Administrator before you can apply your key.

It stops the "buy me" pop-up but it still shows it being registered to "40 day trial" instead of me.

Vista could be the problem.

Its a file protection in Vista preventing winrar.exe from seeing the change. You have to copy the rarreg.key to the desktop first, then you can drag it from the desktop to the Winrar folder. Vista will pop up an "are you sure" box. The next time you start Winrar it will be registered.
