[HN7000S] finally done with Hughes

Well, my modem went out for the second time. The LAN connection stopped. I called tech support and went through everything with them. Need a new modem, AGAIN. This time though, it is no longer under warranty. They want me to spend $199 for a new modem. Since my mother was at my house and her ATT aircard was just as fast.. if not more reliable than the satellite. I am going that direction. I cannot believe hughes want support me. They would rather loose my business than to realize that the hardware has a flaw. My only downside now, is I'm losing my static IP. I guess I am willing to. I'll be paying almost $30 less a month and DSL is just around the corner for us. I would glady keep hughes until then, but the way customer support treated me... there is no way..

I just signed up with Verizon and am real, real happy. Hughes has been nothing but a daily gamble - and I was on the loosing end.

I went with a UM-150 (usb aircard) and have incredibly better speed.

I won't get too intimate in the details - but the feeling of ramming my tractor into that dish - well - I am feeling a whole lot better!

Will probably call and cancel it next week. Actually entertaining the idea of asking for "retention," although, LOL, they don't seem to have said department. I'll make 'em a deal! Restore my 4PM-Midnite to reasonable downloads, and I'll keep your crappy service! But, then again, maybe not.

VZW just kicks butt!

I dropped HughesNet yesterday for Sprint Mobile. I had the Pro Plus deal, but it was never better than the regular plan except for the FAP limit. Sprint doesn't have a FAP like HughesNet or Verizon. Customer service at HughesNet always treated me well, but satellite is a last resort system in my opinion. By the way, you can only terminate service in real time--the time you call by phone or chat online. They will not terminate by email or on any future date.

hello all,
i just signed up with sprint and will be leaving hughesnet formerly know direcway too. i do not post much at all but i do a lot of reading and would like to thank eveyone for postings on tech issues and the usual problems related to hughes net satellitte internet i started out with the direcway 4000 and upgraded to the 6000 and upgraded to the 7000 last year and was on pro plan. the satellitte internet is better that dial up at times and times worse but overall it has been lackluster service due to fap regulations and not being able to browse efficently.

thank you all
