WRVS4400N keeps losing Internet connection, sometimes hangs.

Greetings,

Just wondering if anyone else is having similar problems.

Periodically I lose access to the Internet on my Comcast broadband. Initially, I called Comcast and they checked the modem and everything looks fine from the head end. So I am left wondering if it could be my Linksys router.

When this happens all the proper circuit lights are still lit and blinking on the router and the modem. Visually, it looks like it is OK. However, I can't get a web page, and my Skype VoIP loses its connection. Also, sometimes I cannot access the router internals to check the local status. So I power-cycle both the modem and the router and it works OK again for a while. But sometimes it fails again within a few minutes.

Since I got this router it has dropped out only about once a month. But starting last week it started doing this once or twice a day. Something is going on and I just don't have a clue. During these events the cable TV video appears OK so it looks like it must be an in-house equipment problem. Comcast can't see any problem.

Anyone have any suggestions?

TIA.

It's best to use firmware 1.1.03 for the time being. FTP is still not running as it should (for now). Other than that, what you're experiencing is an internal webgui crash that a lot of users have reported on from time to time. When this happens, check and see what you were doing at the time (i.e., torrents, media streaming, etc...)

I already have the latest FW installed.

I reset the router back to the "factory defaults" and that seems to have cured the problem of the constant crashes. So far-so good.

So the problem must be something to do with the configuration changes I have made, or the IPS security "signiture" updates I downloaded from Linksys.

What helped me to solve all WRVS4400N problems- is Ebay...
I replaced 3 of them, and had the same problem...
Unstable WiFi, visible closed port 23 from the WAN side and very slow routing with QOS configured... It is waste of money for home users, not talking about businesses. 100% untrusted product!
