St. Peters MO, Linksys routers can't get IP from modem 2/21

Yesterday morning I was unable to get an IP address from the modem. Reset back to defaults all the normal stuff, different cables, etc. All my computers worked fine on the router except couldn't get to the internet. I thought might be router, HOWEVER came to work today and guy in next cube has exact same problem at same time. Do we know if charter put in new config or something on Wed. night?

No rebooted modem many times, both me and the other guy with same issue. Interesting when I called charter support they said there had been 3 or 4 like that this morning. They thought it was a power surge that just mysteriously struck interface for routers I guess

That's weird. I was online when, I'm assuming, they pushed a new config and I also got a new IP address. My D-Link router is working fine. hmmmm....

My buddy went home and tried his again at lunch. No luck. He went an bought a new one but didn't have time to try it. (linksys) I will take mine to my neighbors who have SBC and try to verify if router has issues tonight or tomorrow.

unplug the modem and router. Plug the modem back in first and wait until it syncs. Then, plug the router back in. Should start working.

Do you have linksys 54g? I have tried the above probably at least 8 times, while trouble shooting. Didn't work.

Yes, I do have the 54G and so do 2 other people I know in the area, all of which had the same issue come Thursday morning. We all solved the issue by doing the above steps, however.

Thanks, I will give this another try when I get home. I have the router unplugged at the moment to take over and test with my neighbors DSL,, but will try this as soon as I get home.
