| [General] Lets Talk Routers Part 2
Has a new subscriber to fiber service on the Utopia Network, I would like to rehash an old post on this forum discussing home router/network setups capable of supporting speeds of 50mbps.
The original post can be found here: »Let's talk routers
For those with similar service/speed out there, what routers/configs are you using, and what do your throughput rates looks like?
If anyone has a link to a website reviewing router throughputs, that would be much appreciated as well. The best compilation of router comparisons I found was here: »www.smallnetbuilder.com/componen···mid,189/ Unfortunately, the list is about 7 months old now. |

| I'm fond of open-source solutions like m0n0wall and pfSense. Both are based on FreeBSD and work on either a standard PC platform or single-board computer such as Soekris or PCEngines. I'm running pfSense on a mini-ITX board from VIA on my 100/100 fiber connection from Paxio.

| reply to dsl_er I'm still using Zyxel routers and they deliver all the speed that Surewest can dish out. On my 20M/20M fiber Internet connection I've recorded up to 35Mbps uploads to Surewest speed test server.
Very interested in performance of VPN routers under $300. The specs for Linksys RVS4000 look interesting but from reading various forums that product does not have stable firmware yet. |
