1 edit | Bandwidth Charge Update...
Hi Gang,
After some internal discussions, we're in agreement with everyone who's participated in the Transit costing... Effective November 1st (today), the overage on the Premium will be $1/GB.
We've also discussed bulk options, so for those who plan to use more than 100GB and wish to keep premium, a work around that is very fair would be to purchase the equivalent of a $10 additional account (minus the login)... So simply ask to pre-buy a bulk $10/100GB. You must make your bulk purchase ahead of your next billing in order to have it be added to the biller...
As a side note... the Unlimited will remain in affect as discussed! We don't plan to remove it any time soon (if ever). We are however working at finding ways to lessen the overall costs to deliver the unlimited option (ie: a vanilla delivery method/lower cost something), but this is nowhere near top priority right now.... Heavy users... Just be conscious of your fellow users and work hard at downloading during off peak hours (1AM to 6AM) and will help keep things kosher!
Have a good one all!

| reply to R0CKY good looking out for us rock. but i still feel an overhaul may be needed in the future as the client base grows we would be getting more bandwidth abuse.
as for the 1/gb or 10/100bg i think that is a great idea. i like my premium and i wish to stay on this plan.
one question i have though if this issue does come up again in the future would the premium users be affected in any way? -- "carpe diem" |

This is, I think, the first company that I've ever seen that allows you to extend your base bandwidth for the same cost as the original order!
As an example, with ThePlanet, sure, you can get a server with 1500GB for under $100/mth, but if you want to double that bandwidth, tack on hundreds of extra dollars. Same with most hosting plans; you want to double your bandwidth, your price will probably go up to 5x the current rate.
So, in short... Awesome! |

| Yay... I love Teksavvy already I can stay on the premium, and for $20 extra... actually get some good bandwidth options, without taking a hit on my game ping times.
Really glad I made the switch from Telus. Without being bias... I can honestly say you guys deserve a full 5 points on each topic in the reviews! Keep up the good work |

So long as you weren't a switch from Premium to unlimited for overage, you should be able to simply ask to have yourself switched. If you have a static IP you will need to have it changed but otherwise you should be easily changed-up!
Edit: Hmm.. not sure if there's a charge for changing the account... will check and write back if so.

Rocky Well here's my attached jpg to show my commitment. Usenet is "it" for me - I don't even consider surfing and email a factor these days for useage - and personally dread those P2P things.
That 5 hr. window overnight may seem small but you can do quite a bit with it @5Mb. Thats a couple of DVD's, or a full season of a TV show DVDRip of 24 episodes - or even 8 of the new hi-res 720p.HDTV.x264 TV shows if you are so inclined.
Now of course if one were to do this every day it would really add up in a month - almost 300Gig I figure. Kinda worth staying up late for to click that unpause button on your download
Edit: Oh yes - trying to get the few low-usage people I know to switch too but just wish I knew more. -- In theory, a bumble bee cannot fly! |

One of the least expensive 100GB/month plans now officially has the cheapest overage charges of any ISP I know of to date, great!

Let's see how many of the other ideas I have been seeding around here over the last few weeks are picked up and how they get implemented in the future. |

| reply to renton said by renton :Is there a way to check monthly usage? If I use 20 gigs one month and 130 the next am I still OK? so long as the policy has not changed you would be fine. the policy has been to average 100gb over two months. Say over 3 months your usage is as follows:
20gb 130gb 90gb
for the first two months your average is 75gb/month, so you're ok.
for the last two months your average is 110gb/month, so you'd be charged for 10gb ($10) for that 130gb month only. the next month it will average again, and if you use below 110gb there will be no overage charge.
Rocky (or TSI Rep), if i'm wrong speak up! |

The two months average thing has been mentioned by many people around here including a few TSI reps on occasions but it is not clearly indicated on TSI's site. |

| reply to R0CKY I have no problem at all downloading on off peak hours at all(as a rule I only download between 12:30 am through 5 am. And now that I know it'll help out I will never download at high peak times(I will surf a little no streaming vids).
Just wanted to say I joined up a few days ago and been very happy with service. I'll be passing the word on to others. One question When do the monthly bw usages roll over though? not that it matters just wondering |
