That's partly true. Sympatico gives top priority to whoever pays the most. I downgraded my line from ultra to high speed and watched them sewer me for that move before cancelling my account.

Thanks Rocky. I'm in negotiations with Acanac to do just that. I can't get a straight answer from Bell though, if I'll get the promised speed. Seems no one wants to commit. I hadn't though of your wording though, so I'll give that a try.

Nothing unfortunately.

Paul's a good guy, but I'm disappointed that I can't get the speed issue resolved. He has offered several solutions (installing the dry dsl as one to see if they'd put me on a closer remote, and offering to sign me up with Bell for a month to see if they'd connect me to a closer remote) but, the main issue is why should the customer have to jump through so many hoops to get this resolved. It should be apparent that Bells not provisioning their 2nd level partners with proper connections, and are reserving connections within the remotes for use by Sympatico. Make an issue of this with the CRTC, push Bell. It's Acanac that'll pay for this in the long run, so Acanac has less to lose.

Rocky's suggestion has been mentioned by a few people a few times. Sad if it works, in a way.

I did a search because I recalled reading a couple months ago that Acanac had a similar issue with a customer....only to find that it was you!
»How about acanac?

So Acanac wasn't able to get anything resolved? What came out of the May 30th meeting that Acanac was having with Bell?

Hmm... Here is a work work-around that sometimes works.... Call Bell Sympatico, tell them you are interested in trying one month of service, but aren't sure if you are going to go beyond that as the previous provider wasn't able to improve your signal.

Tell them, "I'd be interested in moving but only if you can moved me to a closer CO or repeater to get better speeds... Otherwise, I'm thinking the only alternative is to move to cable at this point". See if they cave in, cancel the service after one month, once moved to the new node, and if you want to switch to another provider, give'er.... It should only be a matter of a billing change from there in the background, so you should be able to keep the new setup when transferring away (...just make sure to make the next ISP aware of what was done).

Ahumm.... Please burn and delete this message as it will self-destruct in 5 seconds... it never existed!

If there is a remote in the area Teksavvy would try to get you onto it. Since you're stuck with Acanac for the remainder of the contract I would continue to pursue this with them.

Hello Gwai.

East end of Barrie, On. Postal is L4M 2W4.I'm about 4.8 km from the CO. Problem is though, Bell has 7 stingers in this area, and they've refused to reroute my wiring to accomodate me. I had Bell in to install a dry DSL and had the chance to ask the tech about it. He said that Bell HS customers can expect 5000 kbps, but, since I wasn't with Bell they were just adding my outer pair to the connection to the CO. What does that say? I have complained to the CRTC, but, their answer basically states they don't want to get involved.

Dear Mr. R:

This is further to your web-based message regarding difficulties that you've been experiencing with the connection of your internet service.

Based on the information provided in your message, I would suggest that you continue to deal directly with Acanac. Procedures and time-lines are well known by all industry parties involved, as well as the dispute mechanisms to bring issues before the Commission. If Acanac believes that Bell Canada is discriminating against customers or that Bell Canada is giving itself undue advantage, it can provide the Commission with evidence of alleged wrongdoing in a written competitive dispute. I can assure you that Commission staff deal with such complaints expediously as soon as they are filed by service providers.

Regards,

Jennifer Eustace
