Hi madirish, thanks for your continued updates and info. I'm wondering whether you've had any success with 4.5.916?

I've been using 4.2.3 for about a year [Hey, just checked the date on the install directory--it's a year and a week exactly .], and have been satisfied except for the one issue of occasional BSODs when allowing/creating new rule when prompted. Because of that, I'm thinking I ought to update.

So, I've just downloaded 4.5.916. Should I uninstall 4.2.3 and then do a fresh install of 4.5.916? Or, should I install 4.5.916 over top of 4.2.3? Or, should I not bother with this version at all ?

Thanks.

Hi Qwerky See Profile

I can export config file but still cannot import same file.

You can just install over 4.5.916 over 4.2.3 if you want-I've done both.I like to uninstall a build every once and awhile and then install the new build (but since this problem with the config file and trying to import it I've been uninstalling the old and then installing the new build)

and your welcome

Been a long time user of ZA. Still using ZA Pro 5.5.094.000 because I do not care for all the non-firewall features/bloat of the 6.x/7.x versions and have decided time to switch to a true "firewall".

In the process of deciding whether to switch to Sunbelt Kerio PFW or Comodo Pro.

How has the Kerio PFW 4.5.916 been for you, and have you experienced problems by users posted over at the CastleCops' Official Sunbelt Kerio Personal Firewall Support Forum?

Several users posting that they have gone back to 4.3.268 version.

Wondering if I should try the 4.5.916 or 4.3.268? If 4.3.268, where can one download it from? (did not see any links at Sunbelt Kerio PFW for older versions)

TIA

Was that due problems you were having with SPF?

I would try the older build 4.3.268.Good luck!
The "Good Luck!" just a general good will jester, or that I'll need it?

1-you're welcome

2-nothing adversely affecting the firewall.Just couldn't import a rules config either from a current build or from a rules config from Kerio 2.1.5(other people were having this problem). Also got tired of the long periods between updates and new bugs being created with the new builds.Just lost faith in Sunbelt.

3-just a good will jester

Hi, friends... yep... I'm still using 2.1.5 ... despite the limitations, it's still the best packet filter (pure sense) available. I don't really know of anybody, nowdays, in the mainstream, doing a power user sort of firewall, in the metaphor of (old) Kerio, and I think it's a shame. Win32 brought computing to the masses, but it left us old goats out in the barnyard. The current incarnation of Kerio is an "integrated suite", and Sunbelt gives us no option. Take the suite, or take nothing.

Tiny > Kerio > Sunbelt was a one-trick pony, but it did the trick VERY well. It filtered ports and protocols. It relied on our understanding of which and whatever of those made sense, within our own understanding and use of the medium.

Firewall developers, take note. All you do, by coding the proxy with the firewall with the "privacy app" (usually, just an extension of the proxy, I digress) is create multiple, crossed over, unpredictible points of failure. Modular makes sense; small, one-trick apps, which can be "suited", if so desired, with PERL or TCL (obscene letters, of course, to a proprietary writer like MS, but... again... I ... hoo-boy, - - I digress... )

Remember, the original Tiny was a freebie spun off from the enterprise level suite Tiny was selling to the Navy and Air Force, the old "CMDS" (centrally managed desktop security) system - they sold it off to some Chinese company... digressing, again, uh-hum...

Hell...

Doesn't anybody do anything, anymore...

... just to be "Best of breed"?.?.
