| Torrent Speeds very slow Jan 31, 2007. Whats going on?
As of today I noticed my torrent speeds are going very slow. I have everything set up perfectly. I was downloading at my normal ~300KB/s yesterday, since this morning I haven't been able to get anything past 15KB/s.
Is there some new type of throttling going on?
I'm using Rogers Express. |

@rogers.com | I've notice the same thing, but my whole connection is going slow. Even downloading from HTTP sites is going atmost 20KB/s with my express connection |

4 edits | reply to Dillback9 Everything's peachiekeen in Ottawa for speeds with torrents but there are no temporary 7 Mbps to 10 Mbps speed test reports here like we have heard from other cities. Also, only I have manually changed my IP, not Rogers.
Perhaps you guys are in for the first wave of.... ELITE!!! |

| reply to Dillback9 Rogers must be throttling and it makes sense. If everyone would pick up the telephone at once there would be a lot of fast busies.
Since BT, 10% of customers use 90% of traffic and this model does not work for a typical network. Rogers pays / MB and customer do not.
Soon everyone will be paying / MB, face the fact it is coming soon if you like it or not |

| reply to bb3 Sorry, sir. Toronto, North York region. I've done speed tests, and it comes up gold, but web sites, MSN, and BitTorrent are crawling slow most of the time for the past couple days.
As for my IP... It has not changed for a few weeks. Am thinking about calling them in the morning if it remains the same. *nods* |

@rogers.com | reply to bb3 I also noticed a slowdown in speeds today, dropped from 120KB/sec yesterday to 30KB/sec. My IP has been in 74.XXX range for over a month now, so its related to more than the IP switchover. Area is Bloor West Village, Toronto. |

| reply to bb3 Looks like throttling may be back.
My torrents have been crawling since last night, although I am uploading full speed at the moment (to another Rogers user). Downloads are no where near what they should be. MY IP hasn't changed.
With the usage meter back and now this I think I'll be making the switch to dsl. |

1 edit | reply to bb3 Yup noticed it too, I live in the Sheppard Kennedy area and I can't download Bleach. Thing is crawling at an ants pace ... just barely touch the 30KB/s barrier.
EDIT: There is only one person I am uploading that 30KB/s to, and it just so happens to be another Rogers user ... strange, first time I've been throttled in ages. I hope it is a system glitch or something other than a return on throttling. Maybe we the clients are being throttled rather than the protocol? |

Asswipes bring back throttling. Root them dam boxes lol.
Do the devices that throttle get a seperate ip on the network?
Perhaps a 10 ip?
Or is this just software they run that blocks it all? |
