| The Lions can't get anything right
Because they "won" a meaningless game yesterday they no longer have the #1 draft pick. A forward thinking coach would have made sure they lost (hey, what's one more loss in a season like this?) to insure the higher draft pick.
Until WCF sells the team there will be no improvement. -- To be rich in friends is to be poor in nothing. |

| What, and that suprises you? Come on now !!!
They are still assured of the 2nd pick in the draft anyhow. It isn't like last year's final game when Hanson's field goal winning the game dropped them from 2nd to 9th overall.
There may be, believe or not, some psycological benefit to the players to go out realizing they can beat a playoff bound team. It may even be worth dropping from 1st to 2nd in the draft. They need to trade that second pick away anyhow to gain additional picks. There is really nothing that a single high draft pick will do to make the team instantly better. They have far too many needs to think a single impact player will make much of a difference on the sorry ass team. |

I expect nothing will change next season. Millen will survive and the losing will continue. Being a Lions fan is like being a Cubs fan. You just know they'll find a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. -- To be rich in friends is to be poor in nothing. |

Yeah I know .... have been a Lion's fan since the Greg Landry days ... Russ Thomas sat in Millen's chair back then. Not much has changed since .... just the same revolving door .... The only constant is the owner; hmmmmmm.... |

| reply to Chopstix Wow, a Lions fan who is positive about things.
I agree with what you posted, but will add a bit to it. The parity in the NFL, see the NO Saints for reference, is such a factor that a couple of solid, not great OL guys could turn the team.
Not that I feel sorry for myself; but I am up here in Sparty country, and Sparty fans and Lion fans both have a serious attitude problem. Both sets of fans expect the team to lose so they will have something to bitch about. All I can think of is how Cleveland lost their Browns for a couple of years, but never lost their love for the Browns. Lion fans need to get on the bandwagon and be happy with what they have. Then winning will really seem like fun. The way it is now is that fans sit on their hands waiting for something to happen, rather than giving up the noise that makes the Lions respond to the fans, and makes the other teams hate coming here. The fans have a role to play in all this and I sincerely wish the boo birds would stay home and concentrate on creating controversy for their favorite non-professional teams.
I write this because Lion fans don't know how to win, so they seek to blame people. Matt Millen knows more about football than you or I, so how can we say fire him?
Forget it, I am even sick that this has to be written. But one more thing: talk radio only gets you to listen if there is something, or someone, to crap on. You are a sucker if you listen to those jock wannabees. Football is a freakin team game. Having the offense hold the ball for 3 more minutes a game can make the difference between a relatively fresher cornerback getting an interception, or a tired cornerback giving up yet another big play.
Geessshhh, Rant Mode off... |
