..and not individual homes. And it is very possible that cable techs are causing a mess in the terminal boxes in these apartment complexes. Now I don't buy AT&T's complaint that this is on purpose. Much more likely the cable techs are a bunch of poorly trained sub-contractors that don't know what they are doing. -- -- My BLOG My Web Page |

3 edits | reply to TKJunkMail I would completely agree with poorly trained subcontractors. One home I went to swap someone from digital phone had all of their phone jacks removed, with the exception of one. He didn't only do that, he also cut the wires short enough to negate any potential troubleshooting. The best thing is that his supervisor supposedly informed him to try this. This type of thing of course only very rarely happens, but it's one example. Towards the beginning things were rough with severed cable drops, and wires trimmed back so they wouldn't be able to reach the telco demarc anymore.
Things are much better now, and I see very little of this type of work. They often just cut the wires right at the customer side of the NID, and wrap/coil it up in their bridging terminal next to the NID. I can say this at least for Maine.
I have nothing against any cable company, or telco; just the lack of training that can be found at times for their employees. This includes myself, because I'm certainly not perfect. |
