[Internet Speeds] Louisville Speeds?

Over the past day or two I have been experiencing slow down and up speeds and that is testing through the Insight speed test, I get even slower results through testmy.net or speakeasy. I am getting about 1mbps down and half that up. I was just wondering if anyone else in Louisville, particularly the Jtown area having any problems.

Thanks!!

I'm in zip 40217 and have not had any trouble. The slowest test shown is from my old wireless laptop. All the others are from a wired PC on my network.

I am not sure what is going on now. I called last night when all the speeds where slow and the tech said she could tell that the ping times where way off. They are sending a truck on Tuesday to "evaluate" the lines. I told her that the lines where checked back in March for the same thing. There was some changes done and my speeds got better. My speeds have been good since the network switch and even the upgrade. Actually they have rock solid up until Thanksgiving night (this is when I noticed something wasn't right but it may have been like this before).

I have monitored the line speeds today. This afternoon they were in-line (9.5mb/900kbs) but tonight is a different story.

I hope that this isn't another "ongoing" problem.

Is there anyone else seeing this? I am in the 40299 zipcode.

I'm having the same issue with slow speed in southern indiana. This seems to be an issue with several spots in insight's coverage area.

I'm having the same problem in my area. I was getting close to 10mb the first of the month and now speeds are 1mb in the evenings and 6 to 7mb during the day.

I don't rely on real world speed test, even Mr. Willner stated

• Other factors come into play once you leave our network. Your speeds will be affected by the traffic and limitations of Internet routers and the websites you visit. Keep in mind that even though we will be authorizing you to operate on the Insight network at these very high speeds, your actual speeds will be impacted by factors beyond our network and therefore beyond our control.

Judging from Insight's speed test, I still get my good speeds but like he stated once it leaves the network, its out of their control unless they get it sorted out.

Your Download Speed = 9.99Mbps or 1.24MBytes/sec
Your Upload Speed = 963.86Kbps or 120.48KBytes/sec

Your download speed is...
183.11 times faster than dialup
6.66 times faster than DSL/T1
2.49 times faster than the old InsightBB speeds

I am aware of this and have used Insights speed test sight all day long(@9mbps/900kbps) and into the night(@1.5mbps/500kbps). I get similar results from all speedtest sights. I just used the BBR speed test site because it can be recorded under my profile.

And this is what I have this morning.

I don't think this a line problem into my house. I may call and cancel my repair appointment.

»74.128.14.17/ is the Insight beta server I use to test my speeds. My speed varies some, but you will get the true speed in Insight network.

AJ,

I do use this site very often. I only use the BBR speedsites in case I want to record my speeds and have a log of them.

Funny thing is I am still getting top speeds like I should. We will see what happens tonight.

So what Mr. Wilner is saying is that Insight will turn up our speeds from the tap to their network to 10/1 but they are still gonna skimp on their backbone connection and equipment. WhoTF cares if I can get 10mbps to a useless server on Insight's local network, I want good reliable speed to the internet-as in the internet that is nowhere near my subnet. I don't pay to surf Insight's network-I pay to surf the net and if this doesn't get resolved soon then I guess I'll be paying Bellsouth to surf the net again.

And why exactly does a traceroute from my home PC to any speedtest site in CHI(a nice big internet hub) have to go to ATL first? Why does a tracert to ATL take a few detours instead of going directly there like the tracert to CHI did? Routing issues maybe?

no that is how level3 chooses at there discretion to route you.

We need to send them a double dose of discretion then, along with a request to reassess their links and routes.

Trace complete.

Seems like hop6 can't keep up.

Hey Glimmer, if you are in Chicage, do the people in Louisville a favor and kick ae-5-5.ebr2.chicago1.level3.net, maybe it will start working better then.

Well i called and canceled my appointment. Last night my speeds stayed around the 8.5-9 meg down and 850-900kb up during the peak hours. I can live with that. I couldn't live with 1 meg down during peak hours. Hopefully the problem has been fixed. We will see.

Insight told me it was a Level 3 problem, then the next day said Level 3 connects to ATT and so does SprintLink, so I'm assuming an AT&T problem.

Also, AT&T told Blizzard (World of Warcraft Players) that they were having a problem.

I've had some nice speeds since the upgrade(9mbps/900kbps), but I've seen noticeable slow-downs, which were justified by a number of speed tests.

Someone mentioned in another topic that it might be a node overload issue.
