Yes I tried to by using the refresh button in IE7 several times starting at 10:55am pst just in case Amazon's servers clocks were not set right. Well I won't go into much more detail but like everyone else the page would no longer load so I gave up at 11:02am. Remember they had 1,000 units and probably 10,000 plus people trying to access the page all at the same time. They need more severs and more bandwidth. It will be interesting to see if they have the same problems again as each week will be another item at a blowout price, i don't recall how many weeks it will be going on for. Anyway, I sure would've liked to have gotten my hands on the 360. One thing for certain, I'll probably never own a PS3 because I refuse to pay that kind of money. In fact I won't even pay the regular price for a 360 either. Now the Wii is different, I'll buy one of those once they are easier to get. |

| 10,000? hahhahaah that is quite low. There were 25,000 posts in the discussion forum amazon had linked on the page for that item to calibrate thier time (see what time they posted). And that was a single thread. There were a dozen other threads with 1000-2000 posts in them with same purpose. So thats MINIMUM of 50,000 people who posted to calibrate thier time.
Considering that most people trying to get this didn't post (you probably didn't even realize there was a discussion thing since amazon disabled them from that page a few minutes before the deal happened since it was slowing them down, not that it helped), that means its quite an easy estimate that there were at least 500,000 people trying to get this.
I doubt it was thier bandwidth that was the problem, although that probably would have helped. It was the sheer number of http requests that overwhelmed whatever server farm they have. You can confirm the bandwidth by looking at the reply from a previous guy about https |

I'm sure many of those people posted more than once, so that's flawed logic. There was still a ton of traffic, though. |

| Why would anyone post more than once in a time calibration post thread? You post, see what time it claims you posted, compare that to the time on your computer, and then you are set. Those threads I was mentioning were ALL "time calibration" threads, there were other threads that people were actually discussing the deal in. |
