| [OT] NY State Traveling Beaver
It's always nice to see and participate in the fun things that one can find on this site. (Things like the word association we participated in) while reading through post in the digital imaging forum, I came across a post about them using a small gnome that they would take pictures of outside, then post the pictures. After the pictures were posted they would then mail the gnome to the first poster that responded after the pictures were posted. So I was thinking being that it is a NY forum that maybe we pick the state animal and do the same. The rules are simple but are subject to change as we get this started.
1- Describe why you would like to participate 2- Receive the beaver , take pictures min of 1 max 12 3- Post them on here 4- The first person that respond 's to the post (subject to approval) gets the beaver mailed to them next - no repeats (A method of how information is passed on in a safe manner will be established) 5- Pass it on the same way 6- Not restricted to NY only
EDIT: The beaver pictured below is ordered and will be here within one week |

| reply to Gungerdin This is a GREAT idea!!! My wife's hairdresser had a gnome stolen from her shop by another customer, and she wound up getting pictures from all over the World. It took her almost a year to figure out who had taken her gnome "hostage" and sent it on vacation.
In the case of our NY Forum, why don't we initially try to send our beaver on a NY State tour? Beaver at the Empire State Building... beaver at Montauk Point... beaver at an SU basketball game at the Carrier Dome... beaver at Niagra Falls... beaver in the Thousand Islands... beaver at Coney Island... beaver at the State Capitol... beaver at a winery in the Finger Lakes... beaver at the Unisphere in Flushing... beaver on the "A" train... beaver on Whiteface Mountain... beaver on a beaver dam on the Grasse River in my backyard... The possibilities are hysterical. We could have a BALL with this, and share the beaver's adventures, along with the varied views and cultures of NY State! Maybe have posters include a little story of Beaver's tour in each of our areas and neighborhoods. Let's give him a name! That way we all feel like we have a personal "friend" traveling the State!
Let me look around. Our gift and souvenir shops here on the St. Lawrence are LOADED with beavers. I may be able to find an appropriate, authentic New York Beaver! |

| said by Chinabound :Send it out here, and I'll get a picture of a Beaver on a Bear. Hey... that gives me an idea. Some years ago, we had a shop around here called "Beavers & Bears". They sold trapper's supplies. Hmm... maybe I should get us an ACTUAL, LIVE beaver and we can send him around to visit? |

| reply to PCInTech I was starting to think this may not happen. If you can find a better real looking beaver that would be great. I am willing to pay for it. That was the closest to real I had found with a few searches (but out of stock until Jan). As far as a name its up for grabs, maybe a few names tossed around then a poll? The reason I mentioned leaving the state was that there are ppl who used to live here then moved but still come in here. All is up for grabs rules names ect... |

| I'm excited about this! I think he should visit every corner of his home state, then go out to see the World! Maybe one of our esteemed mods can setup a photo album, and each host can upload several pics of his "stay" in each location. I'm heading down to the river and am going to tell the beavers that a relative is coming to visit. |

Gungerdin Premium join:2005-12-15 Bellmore, NY | reply to jwersan I am bad with rules, always looking to break them maybe we should start a new topic/thread when he gets here and let the moderator make the rules??? |
|
PCInTech Onward, toward greatness. Premium join:2004-06-07 Massena, NY clubs: | I think we should limit the rule making to a few select enthusiasts. Let's avoid turning this into an endless discussion, otherwise he'll never go anywhere. |
