There are devices called NAS (network access storage) like Snap servers. Apparently everyone is getting into the act now. »www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=ne···+storage

There are devices from Dlink and Linksys that for under $100 can connect USB 2.0 drives to a network. Western Digital or Buffalo have network drives starting under $200.

I've got a Linksys NSLU2

I've not had a lot of luck with it, it tends to lock up if you try to FTP a file larger than 1gb from it

just as a straight shared drive tho, it works not bad
also a decent sized 3rd party development community behind it
