| Comcast Central New jersey Removes wnbc new york
Comcast Central new jersey is removing WNBC New York from their Analog line up, it will still be available in Digital Format.I am a Native New Yorker and do not watch Philadelphia News. They are in effect forcing me to digital cable. I have put a complaint into the New Jersey BPU, and have gotten no response. |

»Re: Comcast of NJ II Channel Line-Up
BTW, when I got to work at my East Windsor office this morning a co-worker, unaware I knew anything about this, started bitching to me about the WNBC change planned for tomorrow. I told him I already knew and then picked up the phone and called Comcast to complain. Fortunately I got a nice woman in Toms River (the last few times I've called prior to today I reached an office in Louisiana) who listened to my complaint and told me she'd pass it on to Comcast's Marketing Department. She also said they'd call me to discuss it but I'm not holding my breath. I told her to get ready for the onslaught of calls from irate customers which will no doubt begin tomorrow when folks try to tune into channel 4 and get NOTHING! Also, I asked her if this decision was made by Comcast or by NBC (as was suggested by celeritypc in the thread linked above) and she said it was 100% a Comcast decision. I think this blows, pardon my French! |

| said by celeritypc :NBC most likely had a say in the decision and may have been the prime motivator behind it. You still may be correct but when I asked that question point blank today, the CSR rep stated with certainty that this was a Comcast move. |

1 edit | reply to llevitt They are doing the same thing here in Ocean County. Except it is channel 10 WCAU the Philadelphia NBC station that is being moved to channel 253. I have little interest in WNBC and don't like this one bit. It seems whatever the broadcast area the FCC has you in decides if you keep channel 4 WNBC or channel 10 WCAU. Because Toms River is considered to be in the New York broadcast area we loose channel 10 down here to digital. The people in southern Ocean County who are in the 609 area code and closer to Philadelphia get lumped in with Toms River by the FCC for some bizarre reason only they know. Channel 4 doesn't even cover our area for their weather. I would love to know why Comcast is doing this at all. -- My Blog on blogspot.com |

| reply to llevitt As has been discussed previously, this is a very lame way to cut bandwidth off of analog. If anything, Comcast should be ADDING the WeatherPlus feeds from WCAU in Ocean County as well as WTXF-DT for HD Eagles games.
The vast majority of people probably don't even know yet that this is going down tomorrow. Wait 'til Comcast hears the flood of calls coming in when WCAU (very much a beloved channel for news and especially weather) goes dark on analog. I think the backlash (in both DMAs) will be huge. This may not last for long. |

I think this blows, pardon my French! If it was 100% Comcast, why only NBC? I understand that they could still indeed be planning to do the other networks but they can't just move the channel off of basic unless NBC agreed to it.
Also, is WCAU or WNBC sooooo important that you would rather have a duplicate feed over new channels? My guess is that most subscribers would differ on that one. |

| reply to llevitt I had a hunch this topic was already being discussed elsewhere. Check out what people are saying about it just in this one thread on my town's online bulletin board. And the change hasn't even gone into effect yet!
