| A way to access local filesystem remotely?
I'm curious.. is there a way I could access my laptop's HD, which is on and running in my apartment, from work? I could put NZB files in my folder from work and have Newsleecher start the downloads automatically, (that's how I have it set.. it just looks for NZBs in a specific folder and grabs them as soon as it sees new ones).
I have limited user rights on the PCs at work and I have access to both Macs and Windows XP machines.
Any ideas?

Newsleecher has a feature where it lets you set a folder that it should watch for new NZB files. As soon as a new NZB file appears in that folder, Newsleecher grabs it and starts downloading the appropriate content. What I want to be able to do remotely is to drop NZB files in that folder so Newsleecher downloads stuff on its own while I'm gone. Of course it would be handy to be able to actually start Newsleecher remotely too, in case I did not leave it on when I left my apartment.

I've only used it briefly with IPCop. Moving files between the desktop and router. I think you need to setup your laptop to accept ssh connections. Maybe something like »sshwindows.sourceforge.net/ |

Well if you use WinSCP now your half way home. You would need to install a SSH server on the laptop at home then open/forward TCP Port 22 (or whatever port the SSH server is listening on) through any firewall the laptop is behind. Note you should use a static LAN IP for the home laptop, make sure its always powered on then call using the public IP of the firewall.
I recommend, and have used, copSSH as a SSH server package. Its based on OpenSSH, OpenSSL and cygwin and is updated as those are updated.

Another option is either the built-in XP PPTP VPN server or OpenVPN. Here is how I have the PPTP VPN server configured on my Vista RC2 machine. Its the same process on an XP box. Of course this is based on my home LANs addressing scheme...
