What the hell?

Do these people when they write the rules do they think of everything that can possibly happen? Also if there is a nuke attack I don't think there will be cell phone towers around or any kind of broadband to connect to.

I think my phone breaking in a nuke attack is the last thing I'd care about if I survived the attack that is.

They have to think of everything when dealing with a litigious society such as ours.

Ditto. In a world where a thief can break into someone's house, hurt himself in the process, sue the homeowner, and WIN, you never know what kind of lawsuits people will come up with next. Part of the blame lies with stupid juries, but the juries are us.

Insurance companies have to try to cover up every loophole as much as humanly possible. Believe it or not, there will still always be people who would try to claim a new phone after a nuclear attack.

At that point I'd be in the market for a new phone powered by my own personal radiation field. And the good news is I wouldn't even need a back-lit key pad -- I'd just glow in the dark while dialing...

Well if there was a nuclear war exactly which courts would be in existance to sue those companies? Might as well add in alien invasion while they are at it.

If a nuke blew up California, Californians would die. Oregonians would suffer radiation poisoning, and die an early death. Cell phones in Oregon and Washington will be destroyed by the EMP. Washington residents, while mourning the deaths of their Californian family members, will want their cell phones and computers replaced.

No, i did not do the math. I did not measure state distances. I don't know how far a nuke blast reaches. Nobody specified the size of the nuke. Yes, I am aware that a nuke blast probably would not destroy all of California. It is an example, stupid.

The point is no matter how many people die, the survivors will live. They will be "happy enough" the first few days, but when the euphoria wears off, they will want their cell phones.

Every country has government continuity plan and courts and law enforcement is part of it. It wouldn't be the first thing to settle but eventually it would come up.
