Direct TV Multi-Satellite Systems

Direct TV says I need a multi-satellite system to receive local channels in my area. Are their specific receivers required for this or is it just the larger dish? I have nice receivers now with RF remotes that I don't want to replace unless necessary.

Thanks

Can you post the model number of your receiver? Unless the receiver is really old it will likely support multiple satellites. (i.e my receiver I bought in 2001 supports multiple satellites no problem)

If you want HD locals then you may need a new receiver and dish.

Either way, DirecTV will provide you a free or low cost upgrade + installation so that you can receive the locals you want. Any upgrade will require a new programming commitment.
