boost users with the 5 mb upgrade look here

i got the upgrade and it was around 2.7 mb for 2 days and now its back to normal speeds just under 2 mb and still shows its provisioned at 5 mb but i just wanted to know if anyone else got the same problems. also when i got the upgrade i got a firmware update on the modem too and i think thats the reason for it but i dont know. last time i got the modem update it got bad speeds and i told them my modem was broken and got a new 1 with the old firmware and everything was back to normal so i think thats what i am gonna do unless anyone has another idea.

I just tested via OOL Speed Test... Getting only 10mb down but 3mb up which is a first for me. Checked my modem via DocsDiag and is set to 30/5.

Well, just restarted my router and re-ran the test. Now getting 23.3/3.1. This is a good way to better differentiate between standard and Boost services

i have no router which rules that out for me and it is set at 5 mb up from my docsdiag file below. i was getting 2.7 mb up and hit over 3 mb a few times then the next day new firmware and regular upload at 2 mb and slower download speed and i noticed i cant download more than 6 files without it getting slower now too. this firmware sucks

I'm still on the old firmware for my modem (SBV5120-2.9.1.1-SCM54-SHSF) and still getting ~2.8mbps upload speed. Also no problems with multiple downloads.

Sure seems like it is the firmware causing some folks problems. Same sort of thing when they pushed new firmware back about 3 months ago. I think only a small group was affected by that. I think they stopped the push on that one.

Anyone bring this up in the OOL Direct Forum?

Well, I am running an SB5100, not sure how it compares to the 5120.

I have the newer firmware as well and I cannot get over 1.95 up. I've had the newer one for awhile and never got over the 2.0

yup ever since the firmware it cant seem to get over 2 mb but it gets over 1.9 and stays there all day long as if its capped there. but when i had the old firmware the day before it was at 2.7 mb. i am trying to see if i can get the firmware pushed back to the old one and if not i am gonna call and tell them my modem broke and when i get a new 1 i will post if it has the new or old firmware in it. last time i did this it worked fine

if i buy a new 5120 thats mine and not OOL will the update my firmware on that too ? i dont want them to mess up my modem if i buy 1

there is a way to change the firmware but there is a big chance you will break the modem as well. anyway i'm not gonna try that and OOL is coming here tomorrow to replace the modem.

What's the point? If the FIRMWARE is the problem, the second the OOL Tech plugs the new modem into the network, it's going to download the exact same file... I think you're moving too quickly and should wait. They haven't even started promoting the new speeds yet... so you can't complain about it because if it weren't for the leaked memo, nobody would be looking for it.

A firmware update doesn't occur when you plug a modem into the network. You download the config to the modem but that is completely different then firmware. Sure, it could happen the same day or it couple happen days or weeks later if they are still running a firmware push.

i'm gonna try to order business boost and see if it is boosted closer to 5 just for the hell of it since the business page says its 30/5. also i saw on the business ool page that static ip's are coming soon.

i also got a new modem today and it has the old firmware and the only thing that changed is my upload is more stable at 1950 to 2 mb and i can download 12 files now without it slowing down instead of 6.

Business OOL, boost or no boost, is IDENTICAL to HOME. Only difference is the price tag. I have a business account and a home account, and looking at the config is identical. I have also been told by many a tech (and not a tech on the phone, techs that i KNOW) that they dont know the difference unless they look at billing - don't waste your money.

Also....is there any announcement from CV/OOL as to the upgrade? NO! There may be a reason why...

You mean they may be trying it out before marketing and advertising it?! What a novel approach.

Yes, BLUNTED Is correct.'ll check tomorrow after the upgrade, as 5 MBPS is offical now for BOOL
